Our monetary system is a ticking time bomb
#41
The problem is that we've had hyperinflation before arnf the economy didn't fail. We've had recessions and depressions but the economy still didn't fail. Our dollar remains the most trustworthy currency in the world and will continue to be so. I bought all that crap before as well but now I know all these warnings all these tinfoil hat conspiracies blah blah.. they never come true and I know why they come up now. White middle-aged men going through a midlife crisis and getting paranoid. I now know what I thought when I was younger was actually true. It's all just bullshit.. there's no doubt a gold standard is better x cash y gold however that's not what drives value of a currency it's trust. If everyone was on the gold standard I wouldn't take north korean currency because they will probably hose you. America is the least likely to hose you of nearly any country I can think of except maybe Switzerland though they did hose people in banking a few times.. Nazi gold... none-the-less. The un isn't moving in, fema camps aren't going to actually imprison you, you're not going to get hit with an emp, Yosemite isn't going to explode, china isn't going to invade, bee's are still here, fish are still in the oceans, ebola isnt coming for you, and the dollar is safe and inflation will happen just as it always has. Time to raise the minimum wage.

As long as the CDC is run better than the White House, that may hold true for a while, at least. Angel

OK stop with the unicorn and fairy logic, Barack. The ONE AND ONLY thing that you have correct out of this whole mess, is the economy, in spite of your savior's attempt to summarily dismantle it. It is not as strong as it once was, or could be, but strong. Inflation is hyper, unemployment is rampant, every other economic indicator is going in the wrong direction. We don't need more debt, we don't need more minimum wage, and above all we don't need more government telling us we need to give more away. To deny the realities of those aforementioned is naive and foolish. Yes, we have had recession and we've had the Great Depression. I have lived through recessions and they stink. Old timers tell me you cannot imagine The Great Depression, and I don't want to. Whole towns, in rural America, are now being propped up by disability payments, I saw it in the town I just moved from. We went from 9 working families, 2 old ladies on retirement/social security, and 1 disabled person, to EVERYONE on my former street, but 3 homes, being on some sort of government handout. Common sense and logic, not old white man fear, tells the sane that we cannot stand Obama's American, less we become yet another Third World dung hole, from which his ancestors came from. This is America, where we strive to do better. We may not always make it, but at least we try.

Jimmy Carter fan?

Anyway, Obama is the leader of his political party. His political party had full control of both the House and the Senate when they set into motion HIS agenda. Where were you during the first two years if his administration?

Since that time, he has continued pushing that agenda, to a point where his inability to compromise on a single issue, has caused gridlock, for which, in usual fashion he continues to blame Republicans, Bush, Fox News, old white men, the weather....

No, the President doesn't pass laws. He sets the agenda and forms the platform for which his party is to operate. This President even pushes his authoritative envelope through enacting his own brand of Presidential decree.

Typical liberal response to continue to blame Bush. Get over it, he's no longer President. In fact, the GAO's own estimates predicted that some $800 billion would be needed for the bail out endeavor. Let's break that down. $17 trillion in debt, six of which was there when Obama took office. Liberals cry and whine and talk about stimulus spending, costs of war, and other associated expenditures so let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say that we saddle George Bush with $9 trillion. That means that $8 trillion was spent under the Obama administration. The abbreviated version is that by the time you work through all of the expenditures for war and any other thing that anybody might remotely care to pay for your down to about 4 1/2 trillion un-accounted for dollars. Given our economy would've recovered by itself anyway, so correctly previously pointed out, the other 4 1/2 trillion dollars went towards repaying political cronies for the favor of backing Obama's presidential candidacy. In fact, in states that backed Obama they received 2 to 1 federal funding for all sorts of "shovel ready" projects. Why in Cecil County, MD alone, where I just moved from, the state received $2 million to build a guard rail along Route 40 all the way across the county, for purposes of "public safety". The money went to a heavy contributor to the Democratic Party, from Baltimore, who supports both Gov. O'Malley and Pres. Obama. The Cecil County commissioners wanted to use the $2 million to help rebuild eight bridges that are shutdown throughout the county, for which, traffic can no longer pass due to not having sufficient funding to fix them. Route 40 has at a minimum a 50 foot grass median strip between opposing lanes reaching as far as 100 feet of distance in some areas. Since its construction in 1940 not a single accident has occurred as a result of one car crossing the median strip and colliding head on with another car in the opposing lanes. Since the guard rail was built, however, three people have died as a result of coming in contact with it. Two died as they tried to cross Route 40, tried to scale over the guard rail, got entangled and fell out into traffic for which they were ran over. One, was a three-year-old boy, whose "parents" placed him over the guard rail before lifting his infant brother, traveling in a stroller, over the guardrail. The unattended three-year-old ran out into traffic and was ran over. All of this was pushed through, under the guise of stimulus, overspending to the extent that was never part of the Bush plan, for which Obama extended as a means to repay his political cronies. Funny how when George Bush was president everything was his fault. Hypocritical is that now that Obama is president, and everything is falling apart, suddenly it's all Congresses fault. That's the crap I'm talking about, for which you will summarily dismiss and sweep aside and continue to blame George Bush, and every other nonsensical means that you can grasp at. It's the president's watch. Ultimately he is responsible.

So what "gwb" were you referring to? "Blinded", is a dismissive term used by liberals when they run out of gas... It basically means that one is presenting material for which you have no valid or logical response. If you want to quit, though, I understand.

Brushed it aside, just like I predicted you would.
