Outlawing 3D Printing of Firearms in NY
#1
I don't know if this is the right place for this and I don't know if this has been posted already so forgive me if it is.

This does not effect us in PA directly, however I always say this type of legislation has a strong potential to be contagious if it gets passed.

As of 6/12/2013, NY is already working on outlawing 3D printing of firearms, magazines, and ammunition specifically. If you've never heard of 3D printing, well it's basically just really awesome technology. 3D printers can print items out of various polymers from CAD drawings. There are open source inventions and items on the Internet that can be downloaded and printed. It's the sort of technology that could be used in the future in a lot of ways to become self sufficient. Imagine needing a household item of some kind and instead of going to the store or ordering it online, just printing it out.

I'm sure this has been discussed here before. You guys don't seem to miss anything. But I'll mention it anyway. This guy started a ruckus recently by printing AR-15 lowers. He has an FFL and does it completely legit, however the idea is that an individual can do it in the near future if they owned a 3D printer.

It's on the same level as getting an 80% lower and completing it yourself. This would just be much easier once it becomes more practical for the average person to own a 3D printer.

You wouldn't be able to run as many people over with that car if it didn't drive as far. It should only have a 10 gallon fuel tank.

3D printing has been around a LONG time. Hell I've been receiving prototype models for reference since the '80's They're just becoming somewhat affordable. I'm sure most states and the ATF will ban their use for firearms mfg, which of course once again will mean only criminals will be doing it.Rolleyes

The high end printers do work with more exotic materials, and you can bet your ass the gov has a pile of them going non stop on their "projects"

I've created a few models (cad) within the past couple months for a foundry that is casting some NFA items. It's coming
