PA State Senator pleads guilty
Unfortunately she gets to keep her pension.

Quote:Under an agreement that will allow her to avoid jail time and keep her pension, state Sen. LeAnna Washington pleaded guilty Thursday in Montgomery County Court to a conflict of interest charge.

Washington, who lost her primary bid for reelection this spring, will resign her post effective tomorrow, her attorney said.

Under the plea deal, Washington agreed to cooperate in other investigations.

The senator - who has seemed stoic, if defiant in her rare court appearances since being charged in March - choked back tears following the hearing, where the judge had renounced her actions as ones "that will taint, that will cloud, that will obscure," the works of good legislators.

"Sadly, Ms. Washington, it has obscured your great work, your dedication to your constituents," Judge Steven O'Neill told her. "History doesn't remember that. . . . It remembers how you left office, under this cloud."

Washington, 69, will spend three months on home confinement, an additional 57 months on probation, and pay $200,000 in restitution under the agreement. She pleaded guilty to felony conflict of interest while prosecutors dropped the count of felony theft, which would have put her pension in jeopardy if convicted.

People in prison for stealing the tiniest percentage of that should feel "justice" has been fairly served.
tolerance for failure meter... LOW
ANY politician that is found guilty or OR pleads guilty to a felony should lose their pension... why the hell should we have to pay for them for the rest of their lives when they abuse the power that entrusted them with.....
