Attempted assault, oppressing a persons first amendment right, and theft of someon someone's property?

Yeah, I have a huge problem with what they did. This video should be submitted as evidence at their arraignment.

Typical liberal response Justin. You may not have any respect for the flag or the country but these guys are active duty and they do. Those protesters dropped the flag, they picked it up and wouldnt give it back. So what.

When did you serve? I was 1998-2007, so fuck you saying I don't respect this country or flag. Calling me a liberal? Double fuck you.

What I respect more than an inanimate object is a persons constitutional right to say shit I may not like.

I don't automatically respect military members and I certainly don't give them a pass for behaving badly like these jackoffs were. I'd applaud their arrest.

Some people get really upset with the idea that putting on a uniform doesn't make you worthy of respect by some automated process. Your life and your work is no more or less valid than anyone else. You deserve to be viewed with the same skepticism as anyone else. You deserve nothing from the public and you should not expect it. You see, I think some of you forget that the title is public SERVICE, not a coronation for your obligatory hero worship. Idolizing authority is why we have so much wrong with our society today. We have let creep in a subtle mystique regarding certain functions within our social structure that have led to an imbalance of power, and that needs to be amended.

I hate the flag's disrespect and take back seat to nobody in regards to my patriotism but I agree with Justin. And I'm getting pretty annoyed with those who wrap their bullying with a flag or their service.

I am well aware you served Justin and I respect that. I do not however respect your opinion on this. I was told once that I had a "superiority complex" I took a good hard look and realized that person was right. I suggest you do the same. I dont see what they did that was so terribly wrong. BTW. I dont idolize anyone. OUCH! Neg rep. I have to cry now. Enjoy yours superstar.

So? You don't have to agree with my opinion and I don't have to agree with yours, but you had to get all name cally and accusatory just because I didn't stand behind some assholes and applaud them. You couldn't just simply disagree.

I managed to make my first post without addressing you or attacking your character at all. It's too bad that you're not capable of the same discourse.

If I take your property I'm a thief. Thieves aren't honorable people. These guys are thieves. While I understand the blind stupidity that motivates morons like these, they are still thieves.

The military men took an oath to uphold the Constitution. The upside down flag, while it may be offensive to some, falls under the 1ST Amendment.

They were in the wrong.

Quote from The American President;

<snip> "You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country can't just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest.<snip> (Or in this case, fly it upside down.)

If I were called to testify as a witness against these guys, I would do so happily. There's no excuse for what they did, and being in the service doesn't give them a pass, any more than being a cop should give you a pass for DUI. In fact, wearing a uniform should mean that should be held to a higher standard of behavior.
