Pelosi: Congressional Pay Cut Undermines “Dignity Of The Job”…
#1
She couldn’t be any more out of touch if she tried.

Quote:House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she opposes a cut in congressional pay because it would diminish the dignity of lawmakers’ jobs.

“I don’t think we should do it; I think we should respect the work we do,” Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. “I think it’s necessary for us to have the dignity of the job that we have rewarded.”

The comments were made in the context of the looming sequester, which would force across-the-board cuts affecting most federal offices, including Congress. With lawmakers nowhere near a deal to avert those cuts, federal agencies are bracing for ways to absorb them with minimum damage to programs and personnel.

Pelosi, whose husband is a wealthy real-estate developer, was quick to note that a cut in her own pay would be far less significant than that for both staffers and less wealthy members of Congress.

“It’s a hard question to ask me because most of my colleagues are the breadwinners in their families,” she said. “A pay cut to me doesn't mean as much.”

Considering the work that witch has done since she was in office I think that we deserve 100% of her salary returned with a 100% of said salary fine for attempting to subvert the constitution.

I think she mixed it up with douchery.

I'd support her leaving public office to go find a job that pays as much or better than her current salary. =)

All their salary does is sit in investments making them more money. Most of their expenses are taken care of with per-diem and housing allowances. Plus healthcare for life and perks along those lines.

Let's not forget that they get their full salary for life once they've been sworn in as long as they don't get impeached.

Yeah and when they retire, they either become college professors and/or "consultants"

They should get nothing for life. The Founding Fathers wanted Congressional representatives who took a break from their lives to serve their country. Then after their term(s) were over to go back to whatever it is they did for a living. Why should the taxpayers pay them any salary or benefit once they leave office?
