I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado convertible, hot pink, with whale skin hubcaps and all leather cow interior and big brown baby seal eyes for headlights. Yeah! And I'm gonna drive around in that baby at 115 miles an hour, getting 1 mile per gallon, sucking down quarter pounder cheeseburgers from McDonald's in the old-fashioned non- biodegradable Styrofoam containers! And when I'm done suckin' down those grease ball burgers I'm gonna wipe my mouth on the American flag and then toss the Styrofoam containers right out the side, and there ain't a God-damned thing anybody can do about it. You know why? Because we got the bombs, that's why!

So what are you tryin' to say Sober?

Market prices of crude oil can suddenly jump well higher than any excise tax would. It happened in 2007. Did everyone have blinders on when this happened? My transportation costs went up too.

I used to pay $78 a month for a Transpass and now it's $92. Rental car fees doubled. My airline tickets cost more. Not because of taxes but because of market speculation.

So if nobody wants to drive to Hershey Park because they'll tear up their car, what good is it to Hersey, or everywhere else in Pennsylvania if we all become disconnected from each other if the roads are such shit? Town will suffer and people will lose their jobs.

Every town that has a police force will have more cars going into the shop all the time. That will be slapped on your property taxes which increases your rent. Every school district with a bus barn that uses the state roads will also inflate that even more.

Obama's weak Economic Recovery Act didn't force states to spend it all on transportation. PA and Rendell blew it all on Ed. spending.

So how bad does it have to get on the roads before you scream uncle and say it's ok to repair them beyond the piss poor maintenance that happens now ?

That's interesting because I drive out here in suburbia in what you seem to think are the worst roads around and I have yet to suffer a repair due to the roads.
