Permitting for Semi Autos
#1
I have a feeling that the libtards are going to have assault type guns reclassified by the ATF as class III weapons subject to $200 tax stamps. If you think about it, this would be the perfect storm for them...permit semi autos and possibly mags and make money doing it! I'm guessing there would be a grace period for us to permit/register ours for free before they become illegal. I certainly don't support this option either but doesn't it seem like this scenario would be more obtainable over house/senate votes or fighting the courts after an executive order.

What do you guys think?

A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

The vast numbers of them out there makes this possibility impossible not matter how much they would like doing it.

The thought has crossed my mind a couple of times. Nobody in the government outside of the ATF seems to know about NFA and what all it covers though.
The law? The law is a human institution...

True. But the risk of getting caught with an unregistered semi auto sporting rifle would be high and extremely punishable.

Also True.

I'm thinking that would really piss off a lot of hunters. I believe PA is one of the few states that prohibits semi-autos for hunting.

It would be impossible to pass that through...

There are millions of semi-autos out there.

Also, I am starting to feel that we may not see anything happen (knock on wood), at least not for awhile.

NRA appears to have our backs, and membership in that organization has swelled since the shooting also.

Hell, the republicans cannot even come to an agreement on taxes and the fiscal cliff.

It now takes them over 6 months for process a SBR form. Even if they add 1000 agents they could not even start to consider this. They could do a ban before this. Once you start defining "assault type guns" with any other measure than looks the hunters will revolt. Of all things to worry about this will be down on the list.

No more FTF sales for sure is coming. Mag restrictions are the safe bets. Another AWB is 50/50. This or a ban? 1%

Impossible. It would take several years to complete the paperwork per gun.

I don't see it happening.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile

This administration loves money, and loves taxing. I have no doubt it will come to a tax.

However, I feel like unless everybody calms down, the rifles will be banned from sale and the regular handguns and hunting rifles will be highly taxed.

I mean....if soda can be banned in some areas and highly taxed in others.....and cigarettes have a huge tax on them....you don't think they can do it to ALL guns?
