Quote:PHILLY 5TH GRADER GET’S IN TROUBLE, SEARCHED IN FRONT OF CLASS, ALLEGEDLY CALLED ‘MURDERER’ FOR…PAPER ‘GUN’ THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS

A Philadelphia fifth-grader said she was scolded by a school administrator and even searched in front of her entire class last week — all because she pulled out a paper gun.

Melody Valentin’s grandfather had made her the “gun” — which resembled a piece of paper with a chunk torn out of it — the day before, and she stuck it in her pocket and forgot about it, WTXF-TV reported. When she went to throw it out in class the next day, another student spotted it and called her out. A school administrator was summoned, and Melody was reprimanded for having the paper.

“Why did he threaten my daughter? Why did you stand over my daughter and tell her that you should call the cops on her? ‘You can be arrested?’ Why were you trying to scare her?” Kelly said.

School officials did not return a request for comment from WTXF. The Philadelphia school district said it was looking into the matter.

I hope the administrator gets fired over this. He won't of course because he's probably a big union fan and that doesn't happen in the "City of Brotherly Love" but it would be a nice thought.

What is sad is that your kids have a better chance of being molested in school by a teacher then shot

It's getting to the point where it's impossible to take US society at all serious any more.

In schools especially.

From what I'm hearing from people who have their kids in public schools, certain types of bullying are allowed, while kids who lash back in defense are suspended.

Kids are growing up in frustration, not allowed to have reasonable self defense, and always at the mercy of those smart enough not to get caught.

Things worked out so much better in the "old days" when kids worked out their problems "out back". I think it helped them grow up to be better people, rather than all this politically correct nonsense.

The other day I was substitute teaching 9th grade aged kids... and we had a little fun contest and one team won by one point, and I gave them candy. The other team said, "We only lost by one point, can we have candy too?" I said, "Well, I'm not very politically correct, so only the winning team gets candy today." haha.
