Please measure your 5" 1911 for me...
#1
Please take a measurement of the distance between the most vertical portion of the trigger guard and the end of your slide. I'm getting right around 3 5/8" on my railed Kimber full size but for the third time now I've gotten sent a shell from Aliengear that measures around 3 3/8" in the same dimension.

Is my 1911 longer than others for some strange reason that I'm not aware of? What do you guys with full sized 1911s get when you measure it?

3-5/8" on 4 guns, three different manufacturers.

Thanks.

Anyone have a Sig Sauer 1911 full size? All the shells they sent me have "Sig Sauer" lightly imprinted on the inside and seem to be coming from the same gun mold.

No Sig 1911, but my SA MilSpec is 3 5/8" to the end of the slide. Hard to get more run of the mill 1911 than that model.
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

That's what perplexes me. They obviously used a Sig version 1911 and assumed that it was the standard dimensions across the board for "railed" 1911s. They even tried to tell me this last time around that my 3rd shell was their "standard railed 1911" option.

I find it hard to believe I'm the only person to order a IWB holster from them for a full sized 1911 w/ rail and noticed a problem with fitment. Either someone in their warehouse is dropping the ball or they have a huge number of guns they advertise as having shells for that they shouldn't have on their list.

I sent them an email this time instead of calling. I didn't want to be on hold for 45 minutes again just to wait for their monotone sales guy to answer and not engage in conversation other than to tell me they'll send me a different shell that's actually the same.

Even measured my Blackhawk blue gun. That is also 3-5/8". I remember a friend wanted to try his Sig Scorpion in one of my holsters and it was too tight. Never even got to see if it bottomed out. Good luck.

My SIG 1911 (Scorpion) measures 3 5/8 also.

I don't know if it still helps, but I get 3 5/8" on all mine.

Thanks for all the measurements guys. Its nice to know that an overwhelming majority of 1911s are the same dimensions. I don't know what gun this holster shell was made from but it doesn't seem to be a 1911!

If they're using a sig 1911, I believe they have slightly different overall dimensions in general than the standard design. I've never really handled the sig though. The three I measured aren't railed version either.
