Point me in the right direction

So I've been thinking about getting a good knife for EDC but dont know jack about knives. I do know I want a spring assisted because one of the duties it would perform would be defense against gun grabs. Other than that i would use it for light cutting as needed. I would be carrying it in the pocket and my pockets are already kinda full so the thinner the better. What companies would you recomend or more specifically what models. Also which would be better for my intended purpose, a knife with or without serrations? Thank you in advanced.

Edit: btw price I'm looking at is $50-100

I am no knife expert but I would look into Kershaw most are American made and they have a good selection of spring assisted knives. Im sure someone more into knives will come along and give you "better" advice. I need a spring assisted knife since I have a disability in my rt arm and Im missing my pointer finger on the left with the middle on being re attached it is hard for me to use a regular folder.

to prevent gun grabs, I would go with this on / in the belt, at around your 6.

Large TDI Law Enforcement Knife

That one is around $70, But I like the smaller version.

For defense, go with this^^^

And I agree, the smaller version is better for carry. The nice thing about those is, the grip angle makes it difficult for someone to turn the blade against you.

That said, I wouldn't recommend one of those for regular utility use. It's just not practical, and will naturally scare the shit out people when you pull it out. Personally, I carry a Leatherman Charge TTI everyday. I use the knife, pliars, screwdrivers and scissors on a daily basis. Without my leatherman, I feel naked. I also have a little bit of experience with the Leatherman Wingman, which is under 30 bucks and available at home depot, and it's a HELL of a knife for the price. It has an outside accessible blade and a pocket clip, so you can carry it and use it like a regular pocketknife. And if you ever need a tool for something, you're covered.

Although you said you want something slim, so it might not work for you. For a slim knife, I would recommend Kershaw, Spyderco, or Boker.

I carry a Benchmade Griptillion. The Axis lock is pretty quick both opening and closing.
