Porcupines

Strange, the folks I know in the Adirondacks used to say they'd never kill porcupines

because they're the only animal a man afoot and armed only with club could kill. Food source for the lost and starving.

How much is a "rupee " these days ? And if you ate it and didn't know ?

Porcupines are
a dime a dozen around here.

Destructive little
beasts they are.

I'm glad the
PGC finally opened the season for them

I'll eat anything that can't kill and eat me first... lol

Cousin has a camp in McKean. When i started hunting there with him years ago, I wondered why guys shot off the tops of various metal signs, such as those on logging or gas well road gates. He told me that porcs chewed the tops of the signs. I didn't really believe him 'til I saw it for myself.

We have the destructive little buggers around here, down at the Ikes club they chewed the front step off of the range house

I did lots of camping for many years in NYS.

All my experiences with porcupines were awesome. They are very docile animals when they're comfortable, almost kittenlike.

When they're relaxed, they relax their quills to the point they can be petted. They really are pretty sweet critters.

Good luck.

Got in my tree stand early one morning and after the sun was up realized I was sharing the tree with a porcupine. It was a little unnerving at first but I left him alone and he just watched me till I left.
