Are sure sure people just aren't averting their eyes and pretending not to notice? I mean, I might see someone OCing but then I look away so as to not stare. Actually I usually try to figure out if it's a cop or just a regular guy if I see it.

It's kind of a split. You can usually tell when someone does that. You'll see their eyes quickly look at your hip and then a quick look back away. Lol, it can be kind of comical sometimes. I'm not sure if they think I'd be offended or what. I never mind if someone wants to know anything about carrying or even what gun I'm carrying. If I don't want any chitchat, I just conceal. Usually my concealed is just untucking my shirt over my owb holsters though, so I still print.

I usually stare, because I am wondering why someone is carrying a $1400 Kimber in a $12 soft fabric flea market holster.

About a month ago there was a guy at Dollar General, he had what sure looked like one of the SIG 229 Elites on his hip, riding right in a floppy oversized $10 bargain bin holster.

But to top that off, it must have been 10 years ago now, a bunch of guys from the American Legion were out on a fall ride and I watched the guy in front of me lose his Glock 19 as it bounced off of the road end over end after falling out of his El'Cheapo "custom" holster.

That's something I've never understood either. You spend hundreds on your firearm, but buy the cheapest pos holster that Wal-Mart has in stock. My dad even does that shit. He owns a bunch of those cheap uncle Mike's nylon holsters. I don't think he'd even have a decent one for carry if I didn't buy it for him.

I myself don't use anything really expensive. Usually it's a leather pancake (@ $60) or a serpa for a budget option ( @ 30). I've tried others over the years, but those are the two designs I've settled on and train with. I'm confident that either is going to keep the gun in there and I can draw well from either design.

Just a thought Rugergirl. Since the weather is getting colder, you could always go with an owb paddle type holster for now and cover with a jacket or vest. I wear a wool vest a lot of the winter and it conceals all but the very bottom of my 1911 holster. That little sig would absolutely disappear under a vest or jacket for your off work days.

I'm just a regular guy and I get mistaken for a cop all the time...even by other cops. The only problem I ever had (in over 20 years of carrying) was just this year with a Canadian shopper who went ape shit over my muzzle being exposed when I reached to a top shelf for an item.

As others have said, I think your worried about nothing...and at 40 w/ 4 kids I think you're being too self-conscious, but I know that is what women do.Tongue

What if I carry a $1,200 Kimber in a $45 Hybrid IWB Holster?

Ooooh Canadians hate guns! I had a pen pal from Nova Scotia, and the beginning of the end of that friendship was when I started enthusiastically talking about my carry permit and new gun purchase. Lol.

And...thanks! It's my own fault....I haven't been carrying, so I have to go through all that "newbie" gun carry paranoia all over again.

I looked at the pics in your original post and I think you are being overly concerned with both printing and your "extra weight". Both appear to be fine.

As has been stated, people are oblivious. I OC during the warm weather months and hardly anyone notices.

And even if someone notices, are they really going to say anything? They would then be admitting to checking out your ass.

Well, since I hate Kimbers, I'd first suggest buying an STI.
Then I'd say a $45 holster is not a $12 floppy flea market find.

I used to worry about printing until I realized, like many have posted here, the average person doesn't even notice. I've seen the effects when people see others OCing and there is ALWAYS at least one person that will get nervous and jerky, knowing that you are carrying. Heck, I often run around my area with a Ruger SP-101 stuck in my back pocket, with the back of the grip hanging halfway out of my pocket. I don't even get the nervous and jerky look, because no one is paying attention.
