Private schools gun carry?
#1
Is it illegal to carry in ALL schools no matter what, or can you get permission to carry in a private school? I'll be teaching next school year in a school that is also a church....I didn't know if it was remotely possible to gain permission to CC or if that's a stupid question....

Talk to the board now. Do your homework and bring them a good, positive presentation for gun possession. Help them develop a policy.

We need to go on the offensive and show them that MSM is wrong on this issue. Our faces are the ones they see every day.
I don't suffer from insanity.
I enjoy every minute of it.

I mean, is that legal though? Regular public bussing takes the kids there but its an entirely private property belonging to the church. If its legal, I will absolutely ask them if I can CC, especially in light of recent tragedies.

Contact NRA and ask for some direction. They might even have packets or powerpoints for you to use when discussing this with the board.

They may not have thought about it, but I bet they will now. Help them develop a policy if they don't have one.

I won't address legality, but it IS private property. Be proactive and get the dialog going. If you're going to be a teacher, teach everybody.

Thanks. So does this mean I could feasibly have a "contract" with the school that I'm allowed to carry?

I am not a lawyer, nor do I pretend to understand lawyerease but the part you're referring to looks to me to mean security type personnel.

Not sure, as my memory is diminishing with age, but I think Utah does not have a restriction on teachers carrying at school.

You can give Utah a call to see what's up.
I'm only here for the 'Foxes with Firearms' thread.

If they take our guns, who will protect our children?

I could be wrong, don't take it to heart, quote the part in question to a lawyer and ask. Like I said, sometimes the law as written leaves a lot to interpretation.
