Pro-gun and OC ad campaign ideas round table...
#1
I'd like to setup a thread here so we can talk about what kind of outreach we can do in the most efficient way possible. I'd also like to identify who has skills and contacts we'd need to make something happen. I suggested we buy some TV air time, but Sober also suggested we might want to look at a billboard, maybe we could promote the site at the same time and increase the user base if we did something like this.

Couple things to think about...

What do we want our overall message to be?

What is the best venue can we use to target the most people who are the least informed?

What would some good slogans be in the shortest space possible?

Things like that, lets bounce around some ideas and see what kind of skill pool we have to draw from and maybe see what kind of ideas would could get off the ground.

Simple idea once discussed with the king of prussia crowd. One guy that did awfully bad stuff and got off and one guy that carried legaly. And had to pay out the nose for.legal fees. With a banner saying something like Philly disregards the law...

We'll just have to be careful about what we say then and how we say it Wink.

I think it's a pretty good idea. As for the message I would keep it about using your rights so you don't use them.

I would take it a step further, saying that if we're afraid to exercise our rights, we've already lost them, and it's only a matter of time before someone makes it official.

Why don't we come up with a list of things that we are not, but people assume we are. Then at the end, we say what we are. (Assume this is a youtube video)

For example:

I'm NOT a serial killer.
I'm NOT a robber.
I'm NOT a cowboy.
I'm NOT breaking the law.
I AM a man protecting his family.

(Then a message pops up saying "Under § 6106, § 6108, and § 6120 open carry is legal in Pennsylvania and in Philadelphia as long as you have a license to carry a firearm. Learn more at xxxxxxxxxxxxx")

A different person open carrying gets to say each line.

A second commercial....to piggy back off the above:

-Make sure you use different races, genders, socio-economic, ages.....
-make sure all are OC

I AM a mother (Holding her childs hand)
I AM cab driver (Show a cabby w/ a scary looking dude in the back of her cab)
I AM a priest (in his/her priest garb)
I AM a garbage collector (show a dull drab neighborhood)
I AM a teacher (show a filed trip)
I AM a doctor....
I AM a cowboyBig Grin

If it were a commercial it should simply show a would-be criminal opting not to commit a crime when he notices an armed citizen.

I think the OC and general gun carrying population is best served by anything that shows a gun remaining in a holster.

I think we should take Sober's suggestion and maybe look at starting with a billboard. It would be easier and cheaper the first time out. I think if we can get that off the ground, if we wanted to look at doing a TV ad it would be easier to get sponsors to kick in some money like maybe the 2nd Ammendment Foundation and the NRA for a bigger project once we've shown we could do it the first time. I'm going to call around this week and see what kind of money we'd be looking at having to raise in order to rent a billboard. I'm thinking maybe we could use Kickstarter too, but I'll have to read what their TOS is and I don't think we should start with the financial end of this until we've got it set in stone what we want to say and have a design in mind. I also want to see if we can get Rocketfoot on board to maybe promote the site.

[EDIT] According to Clearchannel the people who own most of the billboards on 95 in Philadelphia proper we'd be looking at around 6 grand for 4 weeks, and I imagine that doesn't include the sign itself or installation, but I'll have to see.
