Probably one of the scariest things I have read recently!!

The time has come to end presidential term limits, because continuing the restrictions on how long one can serve in the country's highest office is bad for the United States, a university professor argued this week.

In an opinion piece published in the Washington Post, Jonathan Zimmerman, a history and education professor at New York University, says deciding whether a president deserves a third, fourth or more terms should be left to the American people, not the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which placed a two-term limit on the position. As background, here's an excerpt from the amendment, ratified in 1951:

I did consider the source, but non-the-less it is still very scarey!!

I agree with this. Only because senators and representatives don't have term limits either.

Dems love to change the rules like a teenager playing Monopoly. If they changed term limits and somehow a conservative got in, they'd just rescind the new law. Although I guess they would just make sure the conservative never got in.....

I disagree with it, and I think the Senate and House should have term limits. Unlimited terms is how dictatorship starts. I think 8 years is plenty of time to either ruin or turn around the country.

I'd agree but I disagree with the hypocrisy that congress pushed the amendment to the constitution but yet didn't impose it on themselves. Until it is on congress it does I no good.

actually dictatorship starts when those in power can not be removed by the will of the people.

All can be voted out of office. Its really not the systems fault that nobody does it.

Of course in a literal sense you are correct, but IMO the longer a person is in office the easier it becomes to be brainwashed and get laws passed to that end, then do away with the people altogether. People in this country seem to vote based on emotion, not what's good for the country.

Not to mention it would cut down on the gerrymandering that already happens and it would help to prevent only the senior members chairing the most important committees.

Not really, not with all the voter fraud that goes on. Term limits are the only thing protecting us.

Also, to remove presidential term limits, you would need a new Constitutional amendment, which would require getting through congress and being ratified by 2/3 of the states. That would never happen, and even if it did, Obama would be out of office by then.
