Question about local carjacking
#1
Driver Carjacked Near Oxford Valley Mall http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/loca...01421.html

Not posting an excerpt because it's short...basically a guy brandishes a knife....the woman lets him have her car, and runs to a store to call cops.

This is super local to me, and I know to a couple others here. If I was in this situation, would it be justified to draw a gun in response to having a knife in your face? Or does one just have to lose their car?

Do you think you would be in fear of death or great bodily harm?

A knife is a lethal weapon and you are being threatened with it. MAG DUMP in him!

Well, that depends on how badly I want to keep my car.....

Right....so I'm asking if I should just forget the gun and give up the car, or show the gun and hope knife guy runs off.

IF he threatens you OR you feel your life is in danger shoot him, drop the car from the scenario.

I think PA's castle doctrine is pretty clear on this.

Quote:no person should be required to surrender his or her personal safety to a criminal, nor should a person be required to needlessly retreat in the face of intrusion or attack outside the person’s home or vehicle.

So it's pretty much your call if you want to surrender the vehicle or not. May be you have great theft insurance and he's doing you a favor. If not, aim center mass and a nice controlled squeeze.
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

I would fear death or harm from this. Even if I choose to relinquish my car still doesn't remove that threat. I'm not going to trust someone car jacking me that after I give them my car they won't do something, like stab me, to slow me down from calling the police. I may even feel more threatened seeing I just gave them a getaway vehicle.

I consider that most of the time I have a kid with me, either getting in or out of the car when we're stopped where this could happen. So a threat of carjacking such as that would be met with lethal force because there's a strong potential of my kid being taken or injured as well.
