Range Membership Increasing - Classic Pistol
#1
I'm not a member here, but I did use to shoot here often. I thought this was interesting. I bet the ammo shortage is causing less people to use the range, hence causing the range membership fees to increase.

Wow. It was already more expensive than other ranges. We have a membership there, but we have been so busy that it's basically been wasted this year so far other than a few trips. I doubt we'll renew next year.

What I don't like is that you don't get a discount if you were a previous member. Other ranges are more expensive the first year and go less the subsequent years. Classic Pistol charges you the same no matter what...unless you're a cop.

If less people were using the range, wouldn't prices go down? Simple supply/demand logic.

Right now for me, it's not really worth it to join any ranges, but if I did then it would probably be Delaware Valley Sports Center. Their single person membership is $175 for the first year and $120 to renew it. That's handguns and long guns too.

Quote:With our range, we allow anyone to use their own ammo when shooting pistols. Yes, that does include the .50 Caliber Desert Eagle, along with the .500 Smith and Wesson. We also allow high power rifle to be used within our range. AR, AK's and .308's do not need to purchase our ammo to shoot here. Shotgun use is restricted to members only. Members are required to use slugs only. Staff members may ask to see your ammo upon arrival before entering the range to ensure shooter safety.

Again, I don't shoot often enough to warrant buying a membership. If the ammo prices come down then, I'll reconsider.

It better be an air conditioned ventilated auto return indoor range for those prices. They are ridiculous.

It's ventilated but the range sucks and the owner is an asshat.

I am a member there. The staff is excellent. He has more business than he knows what to do with. I am surprised he has not raised fees in the past. I love the place. The prices are good. I make purchases at Tanners and classic. Only shops I visit anymore.

Friendly people, safe environment, all around good place. While I may disagree with the owners statement on channel 6, if I did not rejoin I would be cutting my nose off.

I think the only reason we joined is because my oldest son is going on his first hunting trip this summer and got his hunter's safety course done...and we wanted him to be able to practice his rifle. Although as it ends up, he does better to go to an outdoor range with a friend rather than the indoor one at Classic. I was stupid when we joined this year, not thinking that not only does it cost out the butt to join, but now it costs out the butt to buy ammo too...and things are just really tight for us this year. Lots of rearranged priorities.....

Yeah, I haven't shot at a range in a good year, only 22's in the backyard. Ammo is just too damn expensive. It's coming down a bit, but I still refuse to pay $500 for a case of .223.

Where we live, you can't even shoot a BB gun in the yard, let alone anything bigger. Stinks.
