RCMP ransacking flooded homes looking for guns.

Interesting expose that I came across. We thought New Orleans was bad, but the RCMP in Canada has their registry so they knew exactly where to look... I'll tell you what, if my neighbor crawled through my fucking window to unlock the door of my non-flooded home while I was away so the police could search my house I'd fucking freak.

Do Canadians have a 4th amendment equivalent?

Totally different culture in Canada.... perhaps it could happen in Delaware but not here in Pennsylvania. Gun confiscation during a disaster is illegal.

I am aware of the PA statute regarding states of emergency, but if you believe for one second that the law will not be changed or will not simply be ignored if the state sees ignoring it as being in their interest then you are fooling yourself. Boston PD took it upon themselves to go door to door, searching and forcing people out of their homes with no probable cause during the Boston bombing in Mass to look for a teenage punk. Did the legislature balk as a whole after the fact for their actions? Fuck no, they were lauded for their ability to create a temporary police state. If the government isn't interested in pursuing action against itself for it's actions the people are up shit creek without a paddle unless they do get the torches and pitchforks out. All I read in your comment is the sort complacency that contributes to creating the environment that lets things like this happen in the future... Just because a law is made does not mean it cannot be unmade. Suppose Sandy Hook had happened in PA. Do you really think we wouldn't have lost and ground if it was on our doorstep instead of Connecticut?

The culture may be different in Canada now, but it wasn't always like that. That "I can never happen here" shit is exactly how we got to this level of infringement already on the 2A.

So you're implying that what happened in Boston was justified then to throw people's rights out in times of emergency? It sure is convenient to have the ability to suspend the constitution and throw people's rights out the window whenever the state decides it should be so. The Boston bombers were teenage punks, that bombing could have easily been far far worse if they actually knew what they were doing. You can blow your fingers and toes off pretty easy with a bag of firecrackers too. They were building glorified fireworks in their basement out of black powder. They were wannabe terrorist sympathizers. The Boston punks just got lucky their bomb didn't fizzle like the underwear moron, the shoe dunce or the times square clown. The Unabomber was far more of a threat than these two. The response by the police was ENTIRELY unjustified. The constitution is there to protect things like Watertown and Katrina from happening at all if the state can suspend it at will there is no point in even having it we may as well go back to a Monarchy.

We're also discounting the fact that despite the Boston PD thugs best efforts it was a citizen in his backyard with a cigarette that found the punk, so the tearing families out of their homes at gunpoint only resulted in putting innocent citizens in harms way of a clown with an itchy trigger finger. So it was really all just so a bunch of thugs in costumes could play make believe war with their new toys from DHS they they should never have had in the first place. I'm amazed at how many people forget what the police were like before 9/11 and became so militarized that they have become totally out of control, buying tanks, murdering unarmed people for illegal camping, tazing extremely elderly people, running 16 year old kids off the road into trees for borrowing mom's car without asking, shooting dogs, intimidating people who try to keep them honest with cameras etc. It's disgusting and disgraceful to this nation on a daily basis and there is no excuse for any of it.
