Reading Eagle Theater - Sovereign Center

Has anyone CC'd at the Reading Eagle Theater?

I'm going to be going there in October to watch a Bellator MMA fight with my son.

Don't know if they wand you or pat you down. Not exactly the nicest town in America, but I have front row seats.

My guidance counselor said I wouldn't amount to anything... Lucky guess! Dodgy

The last time I was there no one was wanding or patting down, but YMMV.  Reading Eagle Theater and the Sovereign Center both have a no weapons policy, as per the website, but they are also owned by the Municipal Authority making it illegal for them to ban firearms there.  This is a battle I have been having with them for quite awhile, going back and forth between city council, the solicitor, and the people that operate both venues.  Everyone kept telling me that someone else was responsible for it and then eventually they stopped responding and because I was working 60+ hours a week I did not have the proper time to devote to it.  I have some more time so maybe it is time to renew the fight.

I see that it is owned by the Berks County Convention Center Authority, which is a long name for the city of Reading.

It is manged by SMG or Spectacor Management Group,  which is a worldwide venue management group that specializes in managing publicly owned facilities.

This should make the site covered under preemption, as you stated.

It could be a good cause to take up in the future as to getting this nailed down.

Anyone else have any experience going here? I'm going this Friday and I guess I'll be the test case. Big Grin

I never looked into their policy and was never aware of them having one. Also never saw any signs posted.
But I've CC'd to both Soveriegn Center and Performing Arts Center. Never been wanded, patted down, or had to walk thru metal detectors.

But not since the Tosh and Louis CK shows last year, so....don't know if anything changed.

But I will not enter that city without a gun, so if they would have dis-allowed my entry, I would have skipped the show.

Thanks for the info. I already spent a lot on tickets for the fight, so if I have to put it in the car, I will have to do so. I agree with the never go there without a gun comment. If I am forced to put it in the car, I will most likely turn into a real pain in the ass for them in that I will prove they are breaking the law and file a lawsuit against them. Let's hope there is no need for that. Wink

You can always leave it with me instead of your car. I will pet it and love and clean it. . .

Well, I just got back home, with my gun in tact. There were "No Weapons" signs on all the doors, but I went in anyway since THEY are breaking the law by displaying the signs. No wanding or metal detectors and only 1 Reading cop at the top of the stairs.

I'm going to start the process of getting this place up to snuff on their Preemption Violation. Calls will be made come Monday and I don't intend to let this rest until the signs are removed or a law suit is filed. Wish me luck! Big Grin

Anyone with any contact numbers feel free to PM me, and I'll bug the shit out of them, also. Dodgy
