Rep. McCarthy says US should have all options 'on the table' with Iraq

Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the new House majority leader, said Sunday the United States’ strategy for intervening in the Iraq crisis should be “everything is on the table,” including sending troops to stop the widespread sectarian violence threatening to take over that country.

McCarthy, R-Calif., told “Fox News Sunday” that nobody in Washington says sending troops is the solution right now. But the U.S. should keep open that option, and the larger problem is that the Obama administration lacks a clear plan, he said.

“The key part is to lay out a strategy,” McCarthy said in a wide-ranging TV interview, his first since members of the House Republican Conference last week elected him to majority leader -- the No. 2 leadership position in the chamber.

McCarthy, who replaces outgoing Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor, of Virginia, said he doesn’t have a problem with Obama sending 300 military advisers to Iraq, where Islamic extremists and Sunni militants opposed to Tehran have seized several towns and cities.

“But I want to see a strategy,” he told Fox.

McCarthy also suggested the biggest problem for House Republicans trying to move America forward is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, not Obama.

He argued that Reid, D-Nev., has failed to address House-passed bills and get them to Obama’s desk and that a “new day” will dawn should Republicans take control of the Democrat-led Senate after the November elections.

“What’s the holdup here?” McCarthy said. “Harry Reid.”

He also defended his conservative credentials against those wary of putting a California lawmaker in such a high-ranking GOP leadership post.

Send in troops!? I hope he's kidding. Didn't WW2 teach anybody anything? I know these cowards like to use women and children as shields but they need to find a location where they are in a large group and turn it into a smoking crater (not talking about nukes btw) with no identifiable pieces large enough to not dry out in a few hours of mid day sun. Restraint, to these people, is a weakness to be exploited.

Here we go again.
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

I'm in the minority--I think we should have kept the camp liberty complex (at a minimum) and kept a strong military presence in the region.

And although the lunatic fringe (aka, the looney liberals left) couldn't shout "no blood for oil" and insisting that Bush fought the war for oil (a charge which has less evidence than Bigfoot) we should have taken control their oil to pay for their liberation from Hussein, and used the money to rebuild the country rather than leaving them to do it on their own.

Actually the Romans were quite excellent at it and had the whole expansion and empire building down pat. It wasn't until they started putting their focus and priority on social issues and benefits to its people that they began to unravel....

The only option that should be on the table for Iraq is NOT FUCKING DOING ANYTHING.

I don't usually get all caps like, but I'm fucking sick and fucking tired of these mother fucking war mongers. THEY are the destruction of this country. Not some fucking food stamps.

By the time Numbnuts does whatever Jarrett tells him to, it will be too late. Keep in mind, he JUST TODAY sent a bill to the Congress about sending a half a billion dollars to the SYRIAN FUCKING ISIS REBELS.

We should not spend one more dime, fire one more round, or lose one more American in the Sandbox. We need to pull out and isolate Kuwait and Saudi Arabia from ISIS and Iran, and fuck the rest.
