RIA 1911

There is a parkerized RIA 1911 sitting at my LGS for around 450. I don't own a 1911 and I have been itching to pick one up. Is there any reason why I shouldn't get one other than i'll be broke until my next payday? I handled it for a few minutes and the fit and finish seem really good for such a cheap 1911.

Which model is it? You can get a brand new Rock Island GI Mil-Spec from Buds for $409.00 shipped.

$450 sounds like the tactical model. Thats the one I went with. Beautiful pistol. Wanted the extended beaver tail, skeletonized trigger and hammer. Love the fit and finish.

The 1911 at the LGS is the one posted earlier from Buds. Black parkerized finish with wood grips. Until I pay to ship it and the transfer fee, it will cost me just as much to pick it up from the LGS. I think i'm going to go pick it up today, it was screaming my name yesterday. It was a tough call between another M&P (a 45) and a 1911.

I guess the M&P will have to wait until after Christmas.

And like always, i'll be sure to get some pictures up once it is in my possession.

That $409.00 includes shipping. Not trying to talk you out of buying there, just clarifying.

I spent some time checking this exact gun out at Guntraders here in Reading a little while back. I was impressed. Didn't shoot it, of course, but I liked the fit, finish and lack of tool marks.

A couple of mods (new trigger, spring kit, grips, wide spur hammer) and that gun would be sweet > the purchase price.

Only reason I didn't buy it was because I couldn't resist another of those damn $499.00 Veprs over at Centerfire. Undecided

Look what I started.....should have never picked it up in front of you.

It is the tactical model with beaver tail and skeletonized trigger and hammer.

I almost bought it last night

I picked it up from Geiser's Guns in Sunbury today. Current disassembled on my deck. Tons of packing oil on this thing!

Use Hoppes 9 or break cleaner to get that junk off. Here's a thread discussing toe procedure on a RIA. Welcome to the family Smile

Breakfree powderblast took care of it, lubed it up with some Weaponshield. Now I just have to wait until tomorrow to shoot it :/
