Road Ragers
#1
Let's talk about them. I can't be the only one here who's had to deal with one or two in his life.

I had an incident with one last week. Here's my original Facebook post:

"I have a couple of friends who ride motorcycles. So this isn't really directed at you:

In a battle between a Harley and my Ford Taurus, the Ford will win, every damn time. It's not a particularly good idea to pass a car on its right, especially if its a fucking single lane. It's not a good idea to get mad that I didn't see you, and nearly turned you into road pudding. It's not a good idea to get mad you almost got smashed and chase me down and punch my car as we're moving. It's REALLY not a good idea to pull up on me at a red light, get off your bike, and approach me with a wrench in hand.

Because that's how biker trash assholes get shot. Consider yourself lucky, biker trash, that I didn't think it was necessary to shoot you."

Later on, I tried to find out on Google if the guy was a legit outlaw biker, since he had the three patches normally associated with being a 1%er. I think he may have been a member of the Warlocks.

Road rage sucks. Here's one:

The video link works, but it doesn't seem to embed properly.

Both these guys put everybody on that road in danger.

I enjoy every minute of it.

I've got ZERO problem with anyone brake-checking, or flat out stopping and allowing themselves to be rear-ended (if they're that crazy).

Just saw another new story today (from PA), where the brake-checker was labeled as the "aggressive" one and the tailgater was the "victim". WTF!?

Back around Memorial day I had a guy trying to pull out of a parking spot on the side of the road on the main drag in my town. There was a 4-runner trying to parallel park in front of him, so I was stopped short to let the 4-runner park which put my passenger front fender near road ragers quarter panel. I also had no idea at the time someone was in that vehicle the 4-runner was trying to park in front of. This guy never even looked to his left a pulled out almost right into my fender, so I beeped my horn. He gave me a disgusted look and motioned for me to back up. A little hard to do with vehicles behind you...so I flipped him off because none of this is my fault and there's a thing called right of way, which I had. The light is red, I stopped short to let someone park and dickhead here complicated it with stupidity.
So flipping him off must have just been too much for this guy to handle. He gets out of his car yelling and pointing and walking toward me...so I pulled the 1911 and held it in my lap while I rolled down my window. He proceeded to reach in to smack me or something (big mistake) so I grabbed him and pulled him right to the door bringing the my right hand up to level. Then I explained "I have the right of way and you should fuck off as far away from me as you can get." Then I let go and he went back to car not even looking back just scrambling to get away. After all that I deemed it best to go file a report with my local PD and explain what happened and give them the guys plate number. PD had already got a phone call from a witness to all this and one of the cops just left to investigate.
Nothing ever came of all this but I'm willing to bet that guy will always think twice before flying off the handle again.

I think I would have shot that biker threating me with a wrench and that's coming from a biker. If that road rager would have had something in his hand that day threating me with it I would have.

Luckily for him, he decided that life was a better choice. If I'd been able to just drive away, I would've used that option, but traffic wouldn't allow for it, and he seemed determined to get into it with me, anyway.

Always the smart option indeed.
I had no where to go either, between road rager and someone trying to parallel park who could barely pull that maneuver off.

While I can understand the desire to brake check some idiot on my tail, I think it's a dangerous response to an equally dangerous action. (that's not directed at anybody personally)

Tailgating is an unbelievably dumb thing to do. Road rage at its finest, IMO. The tailgater has no reaction time to a legitimate roadway emergency, such as animals or people running out into the road. I had some guy tailgating me on a 2 lane road. I was going the speed limit. I was doing nothing to merit such aggressive behavior. Some people are just assholes.

Long story short: a kid checking the mailbox across the road from his house DID run out of in front of me and I had to brake hard. Tailgater almost rear ended me. He was so focused on riding my ass that he didn't see the kid. He was pissed because I braked to avoid killing a child. Thank God. He finally passed me and went his merry way.

What can these people possibly prove with this kind of behavior? This is how people end up in the trauma unit or dead. That would be fine as long as they didn't take any of us with them.

Yesterday a guy considerably my senior and certainly slower and just about my size decided to confront me in a parking lot as I was walking toward the store because he didn't like something I'd done.

"I'll kick your ass!" he hollers. So I conspicuously uncovered my canister of Sabre red pepper gel spray and loosed the retention strap. "I don't care!" But he apparently did care, because after satisfying himself with having had the last word, he stomped off. It was just as well, since he was about a second or so from enjoying a face full of that nasty shit.

The LCP remained out of sight in the DeSantis pocket holster, as he didn't look like the type who'd have much fight left in him after being pepper sprayed. In fact if I had had to spray him, it might well have given him a coronary.

This just reinforced why I always carry spray. I wasn't going to let this old fart put his hands on me, but I was just as glad to be able to deter him with the sight of the cop-grade chemical deterrent versus uncovering my pistol or presenting it, and all that might entail.

People are too quick to confront without considering the possibility of getting shot. I try to mind my own business and I really do try not to do dumb shit in traffic.

I will admit there are times when people get pissed off and we have no clue what set them off. I'd hate to have to shoot some asshole over something they thought I might have done.

I should think about pepper spray. I always carry a blade, but I don't always carry my sidearm.

I saw this on Amazon:
