Quote:When a couple of shoplifters tried to rip off a store in a Glendale, Arizona mall it was not the loss prevention officer that fired at them. In fact, the unarmed officer found himself at gunpoint when he tried to stop the pair of shoplifters. It all began when the unarmed loss prevention officer tried to detain the thieves. One of the suspects, a woman, drew a handgun from her backpack and pointed it at the officer. Meanwhile a 61-year-old man was sitting in the parking lot waiting on his wife to finish her shopping in the mall. He saw what was happening and saw his wife exiting the store from the same entrance as the officer. - See more at: http://gunsnfreedom.com/robbers-pull-gun...NuSmL.dpuf

Doesn't sound like a terribly safe shot, but evidently it did the job. Hope the guy isn't charged with anything.

Quote:REMEMBER THE FORMER MARINE WHO OPENED FIRE AFTER AN ARIZONA COUPLE PULLED A GUN ON A SEARS EMPLOYEE?

POLICE HAVE SUBMITTED CHARGES…AGAINST HIM

Maricopa County, Arizona, may be infamous because of its sheriff, Joe Arpaio, but it could gain another reputation with concealed-carry supporters after it’s now been revealed police officers in the city of Glendale have submitted charges to the county attorney against a former Marine who intervened in an armed robbery last Friday.

When a loss prevention officer confronted the couple near the door, Shaashana pulled out a gun. That’s when the Marine, now identified as 61-year-old Mervin Brewer, took notice. That’s also when he saw his 64-year-old wife coming out of the same exit.

Brewer, KNXV-TV reports, feared for the life of the officer and his wife and engaged the Houghs, firing four shots. Shaashana dropped the gun and the couple sped away on a motorcycle, only to be caught later.

Upon further investigation, Shaashana’s gun ended up being a toy that was painted to remove the orange indicator. She claims she keeps it to protect herself on the streets and that the couple was only stealing the tool so they could sell it for food.

Now police say Brewer could be charged with a felony depending on how the district attorney decides to proceed. According to the Associated Press, police submitted a felony charge of unlawful discharge of a firearm.

I thought painting a toy gun black was a crime.....

It's good to know that if you steal to sell for "food" that it's okay.....

I just read this for the first time now. Hmmmm. Interesting. Hopefully the DA's office drops the charges against the former-marine.
