Ruger LCP went t*ts up.

Well my LCP is broke. I complained recently that it was FTE. I finally had a chance to look closely at it while at the range today and something is broken since the extractor is jammed. It appears that Ruger has good CS, though, so I guess I'll send it in.

I just hope that I can regain confidence in it. But it might also get me to finally pick up a Kahr.

I'd get the LCP fixed and hold off on the Kahr until they get their production moved in-state. I'm looking forward to a nice K40 Elite with "Made in PA" stamped into the frame.

BTW. Does Kahr make any hammer fired guns? I think every one I've ever seen was a striker type.
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

Yeah I'd like to get one made in PA too, but I don't know how many years out they are for that.

You could always buy a non-PA Kahr now, and then (as a customer) express your enthusiasm and joy to them via email by stating that now that they are producing guns in state, you're going to buy one.

Then, sell the non-PA Kahr. Or, keep it as a backup/trail gun.

Bad news with the Ruger, but I totally get that--I don't keep guns I don't trust either. And I never kept a woman I didn't trust, but they're more dangerous than guns and a totally different story Tongue

Didnt you say you werent cleaning your pistols? Could that be the cause of the failure or is it something else?

Like anything mechanical it's not a question of if it'll break...it's when.

Would you not trust your car or truck just because the alternator, thermostat, or powersteering pump failed?
Now think about the abuse the extractor takes.

I have no doubt that Ruger's CS will treat you right. I just don't see where I would get rid of it just because of this one incident. Now if were a repeated problem, yeah, I'd ditch it.

Yeah I suppose, which means that I certainly won't trust it again. If I were to be convinced that that was the cause..., which would take a lot of convincing.

When you say FTE, do you mean failure to extract, or failure to eject?

Extract.

That's weird, in what position is the extractor jammed? Open or closed?

Also a dirty chamber can cause extraction issues, but you'd likely have to shoot over 1,000 rounds before that happened. How many rounds have you shot since you cleaned it? What kind of ammo are you shooting?

Does it fail to extract every single round, or is it intermittent?

Lastly, how far does it pull the round out of the chamber before jamming, if at all? Is the empty shell halfway out, all the way in, etc...?
