Safes / Gun Cabinet
#1
Looking for suggestions. I want to buy a safe, or a gun cabinet and am looking for a place that can actually deliver it to my home...INTO the home, and not just the curb.

Anyone dealt with a company that will? The issue I have is my back, I can't bully a 300lb safe up the stairs anymore--doing that kind of crap is likely how I hurt my back to begin with.

Thanks!

EDIT TO ADD - Looking at an 18 -24 gun storage (by description, not actual) and in the $300 price range.

Just about any company will deliver it into the home, for the right price. Sad

Any piano mover should have the right equipment. It might be worth making some calls to see if any would be willing.

My big safe was delivered by the gun shop. They will ask about where you want it and how many steps.

The smaller safe I brought home with a little help.

Shouldn't you be looking for one that you can bury?

Small air-tight cylinders that will not leak or dissolve inside a septic tank addresses that concern, and are easier to retrieve without leaving disturbed earth as evidence.

$300 isn't gonna get you much for holding 18-24 guns. What kind of guns anyway? Are we talking all lever action rifles, handguns, AR15's? The type of guns you have will really determine how many you can fit in a safe. AR15's take up a LOT of space, as do rifles with scopes. Pistols obviously don't take up a lot of room, but you need to work out some kind of rack system or shelving system to hold them.

Anyway $300 wont get you much security, unless you can find something used on craigslist. If you don't care about security, most of the cheap stuff out there is basically the same; they are built like filing cabinets. It wont weight 300 pounds and two people should easily be able to get it up the stairs.

If you post more info like what kind of guns you have, and how much security you want, maybe I can help you better.

Some how I missed the 300.00 part. Think used. But then moving really becomes an issue.

Right now, I've only got a handful of rifles...an AK, AR-type rifle, short mossberg shotgun. I'm planning more, couple lever actions, another AR, Ruger mini 14 & 10/22...etc.

I need to get about 6 or 7 rifles in it for starters, and honestly I'm just looking for something to keep away from the kids. If a couple pistols fit fine, but I have a different safe for those. If its fire rated even better, but concern is keeping the kids away.

In the future I plan on a larger safe, but the future isn't here yet. This is until I'm able to grow my gun collection a bit more.

Actually was looking at something like this:

If I took a couple Motrin ahead of time, and planned to take it very easy the next day I could get it up stairs myself easy....

The interior dimensions of that safe are 15x18, that's REALLY small. There's no way you will fit 7 rifles in there, especially if some of them are AR's or AK's and if any of them have scopes. I mean, you could remove the racks from the inside and jam all of them in there, but I like to have all my firearms individually supported and not touching the other firearms.

I have a 24 gun safe, and can only fit about 12 long guns in there. So that's half. You can probably expect to fit 5 in the safe you linked to.

One last thing: Bolt it to the floor. Securely.
