School Shooting Drill: Chicago School Officials to fire Blanks in Hallway
#1
Parents, the best way to "conditional" children to gunfire is to take them to a fucking shooting range!!!!

This coupled with the drill reported in Houston. Among all the problems I have with this, I do hope they are at least issuing hearing protection to everybody Confused

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/01/29/c...-hallways/

Quote:The simulation will take approximately 15-20 minutes, during which time teachers will secure their rooms, draw curtains, and keep their students from traveling throughout the building. Please note that we will be firing blanks in the hallway in an effort to provide our teachers and students some familiarity with the sound of gunfire. Our school resource officer and other members of the Cary Police Department will assist us in sweeping the building to ensure that all students are in a secure location during the drill. At the conclusion of the drill, we will take some time to process what occurred and then we will return to our normal classroom routine.

Having children, this makes me upset. Its bad enough to make a Kindergartener or First Grader go outside in winter without a coat for a fire drill. But subjecting them to something this "scary" at that age is unacceptable. A child should never have to experience this in his lifetime, not even for "practice". The only "practice" a child should get should be a walkthrough or verbal training...or more intense training done by parents who know how to assure their child that it is not scary.

In Chicago, no less. I thought Chicago was "safe" because of the gun laws?????

I've been attempting to figure out the logic of these folks and then I remembered, they're probably members of the NEA therefore logic is NOT their forte.

The schools will probably have assemblies soon, where the speaker asks the children to raise their hands if their parents have guns.

I understand wanting to condition kids to keep calm during a crisis. However, there have got to be better ways than to use combat drills for schools. I'd also like to know the actual likeliness of a mass shooting occurring.

Oh, now you need to be careful. You're being all logical and that doesn't fit in with the PC agenda at this time.

My CO said that an officer that doesn't think or ask questions about the plan is of no use to him or the nation.

That could be just what they're going for. Think about it, a diagnosis of PTSD could be reason to turn you down at some point in the future. I wouldn't put something like that past the banners. They could make 200 - 400 deniable in one fell swoop.Shrug

Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined things would progress so quickly.
