scope

I saw a scope today at a gunshow that was like a normal scope but did not have ANY crosshairs in it. It has a red dot with a circle in it. I thought it was a red dot then the guy showed me it had a zoom on it so it worked like a scope but had a dot recticle. I was wondering if anyone had heard of this and if so if they know a model of this type as I am thinking of getting one of these fro one of my ar-15s. I have a red dot on the other one and want to scope one.

I saw a Bushmaster like that a couple of weeks ago when I purchased my AR. It was a scope, had a red dot, but no crosshairs.

I passed on it as I don't like relying on batteries. Battery is dead, scope is worthless.

I went with an iTac scope with illuminatable crosshairs.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile

I figured the same for shtf, but I plan on back up flip up sights and also in the bug out bag having a normal scope. It just seemed so cool. I definately will go illuminated though. Right now night vision is just out of my budget.

There are quite a few scopes like that. I'm planning on one for my AR. It's a Sightmark 1-6x24mm. At 1x it works like a red dot but when you magnify it, the reticle magnifies too and it shows the actual reticle.

I like the idea of having the black as a backup in case of battery failure.

That was one of the scopes I was looking at but I've read a lot of less than stellar reviews about them. Apparantly they have fish eye problems on a lot of them. I've checked out a bunch of different model Sightmark scopes and was impressed with them.

The shop I help out at has sold more than a few with no reported problems.

I have no experience with sightmark.

I'm just basing my opinion on my actual experience with the Millet, not web reviews with which I always take with a grain of salt, as someone may do with any opinion I give as well.
