SCOTUS is in danger.
#1
I've always believed that as long as the SCOTUS was stacked correctly, that the damage that could be done to the second amendment by a president, would be limited.

Tonight, Obama was on Jon Stewart and in his closing remarks he said this;

"There are a lot of things at stake. War, peace, economic recovery, the supreme court, women's right to choose...,"

I'll end it there because the bold perked up my ears.

I always knew that there is a good chance the next POTUS will get to nominate at least two justices, and that that could spell certain doom for the second for decades.

However, with what he just said, it seems that not only is he aware of this opportunity to stack the court, but that he is planning and counting on it.

Why would he say that the SCOTUS is one of the things at stake if he wasn't planning on making some sweeping changes to rights and the constitution?

Until just now, I was all set to vote third party, but now I'm not so sure.

I'm glad at least one 3P is beginning to see the light. Obama is such a threat to our liberty on so many fronts that to cast a protest vote because your idea of a PERFECT candidate is not the one on the top of the ticket is simply madness.

Obama isn't stupid. Of course he realizes that he may be able to stack the court during a second term. I don't blame anyone for voting Romney to protect gun rights. I'm just fed up with big government politicians whether they are Dems or Republicans. If Obama wins and manages to restrict gun rights then so be it. Come and get them. Bring back-up. I'd rather face that scenerio than to keep going down the path that we are on.

I have some more reflecting to do, that's for sure. But that comment terrified me.

I'm ready for it. The wife and I had a long talk about it. She isn't happy, but she does see where I am coming from.
This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins. -Ben Franklin

Good for you Justin. I am glad you are starting to understand were some of us are coming from on refraining to go 3P for the simple fact that we are dealing with a VERY dangerous man. I completely understand peoples unhappiness with the choices we have but a "protest vote" at this point in history is just a poor choice. Take care. Dom

Someone else suggested it, and I'm starting to adopt the idea...if Obama wins the election, Hillary Clinton's 'reward' for falling on her sword to take the blame on Benghazi might be a SCOTUS appointment in Obama term 2.
