Seattle Mayor McGinn, CeaseFire to launch 'Gun Free Zone' program
Business owners can simply put up a cheap sign or sticker themselves like they do in PA prohibiting firearms inside if they so choose. Why does the city government there have to waste time, resources and money (even if it's only a little) on such a program? Criminals will have a field day robbing these easy targets they know will offer no resistance.

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn is partnering with Washington CeaseFire to launch a new program designed to help local businesses become “Gun Free Zones.” A Monday press conference to make the announcement is planned.

According to a press release, businesses will be able to opt into the program by visiting, signing the pledge to participate, and placing a “Gun Free Zone” decal in their window.

“We are here to support businesses that do not wish to have guns on their premises” McGinn said in the release. “The police department regularly enforces trespass laws when a visitor to a business violates that business’s rules. We will continue to do so, and I thank these businesses for standing up for the safety of their customers.”
Live Free or Die
Yes, gun free zones have been totally successful.

The last paragraph in the OP is especially telling.., this is another attempt to criminalize otherwise law abiding people.

hmmm... wonder if a burglary of those stores would make the news? and then can we laugh at all of them.
