Secessionist Movement and Cultural Division
#1
The author makes some good points. There really is a cultural division in this country.

One comment I have regarding the seccesionist movement is its geopgraphic disparity small population base.

If all the secessionists moved to North Dakota, Alaska, or Wyoming, which have relatively small populations, changed the voting demographics they could easily get a good majority of the vote %.

Ahhhhh,…

Sweet secession,…

There are no rules for secession in our Constitution,…

The Constitution was willingly signed into being by representatives for the separate states,…

The states were represented, not all the citizens of that state,…

Citizens signing petitions to the White House asking Mr. Obama to “Let our people go” are,…..well,…….they’re stupid,…

Frustrated?!?!?!,…apparently,…

Unhappy?!?!?!?,…seem to be,…

Savvy as to how to secede?!?!?!,…nope, just a bunch of dunderheads spouting off,…

The POTUS has no prerogative under the law to grant secession,…

When a state chooses to secede it simply recalls it’s delegation to the United States Congress and secures it’s borders,…

That’s it,…

Now, after that comes a whole lot of stuff, just like a divorce after the wife throws her husband’s clothes and personal effects out onto the front lawn and locks the doors,…

Who has to pay what debt, who gets the kids when, who gets to keep which pieces of property, who has to pay for whose upkeep in the style to which they have become accustomed,…

As for coming to an amicable separation without violence well,…....that depends on the temperament of the parties separating, who issues the orders of protection and who enforces those orders,…

Or, does the wife have a gun and does she know how to shoot and is the dispossessed husband willing to risk injury or death to reassert his position in a failed relationship,…

In the case of the USofA, the federal government is the biggest, baddest, wife beater shirt wearing sob on the planet if it chooses to be, who is going to issue or enforce an order of protection between the USofA and any of it’s separate states?!?!?

We’re not talking Kosovo dumping Yugoslavia here,…

Sooooo,…secessionists meet reality,…spout if you really need to, but your efforts are just fodder for pablum journalists who are too great in number and too void of integrity to investigate or report any real news of substance to the Republic,…

I'm just saying,...

I find interesting the apparently high correlation between frustrated, unhappy, secessionist who feels helpless to bring about political change and those who seem to have failed to master the rudiments of how the USA is constituted and governed.

It's almost as though they didn't pay any attention in their required Civics or Government classes because they found the material to be "boring" or "irrelevant."

One doubts the credibility of someone's prescriptions for the cure of society's ills when their mastery of the basics of our system of government is so wobbly.

What's a Gadsden flag mean, anyway?

And the end result would be the same.

Those that try to identify with classical liberalism really should stop making these types of threats. It's akin to Alec Baldwin threatening to leave the USA if Bush was re-elected.

At the end of the day, there need to be some adults in the room.

Yes, it has happened. Several times in world history.

Secession will be a sure path to a second civil war. However, I have to agree with Justin on this one: just a couple "fear mongers" trying to get a point across.

I do not see a civil war ever erupting as it did before. It just cannot be the same. We as a country are vastly different than before. The federal goverment is now the dominant and the state the subservant. I do not see any one state actualy trying to break free of the U.S.A. I know many people and small groups would be willing to try but that just is not the same as a state trying.
