Section 8, Welfare and Ethics a case discussion...

I believe we have a moral obligation to help the poor and disabled. WE do...not the government, and certainly not us forced by through the governments hand.

I'll have to dig for it, but I recall reading and/or listening to some history about charity in the US, and how the Catholic Church (as a prime example) used to give HUGE amounts of assistance as charity to its local cities/towns. This charity became less as people gave less, and people gave less because social security and other social programs by the government took its place. And the charity money was diverted elsewhere.

I am 100% for helping people in need. I just do not believe it is the responsibility of the government to force people how much to give and to whom, that is a personal decision for everyone to make on their own.

"Somebody needs to pay for all my children. They need to be held accountable, and they need to pay".

Classic shit right there. The Democrats love to parade hard luck sob stories up on stage whenever Republicans threaten to cut social services, but this is the reality. Fraud, abuse, waste, and a society well-versed in the art of taking other peoples' money so they can keep living their chosen leech lifestyle.

The Second Amendment does not GIVE us the right. It tells the gov they can not infringe our right.

good post, but this is certainly not what you said on this topic a few months ago. I believe you used to say that some government welfare is ok. have you had an ideological revolution? Smile

the state, through its various welfare programs, basically incentivises people to have more kids. more kids = more government assistance.

Exactly. And government is incapable of common sense. It can't look at one person and say "you're legitimately needy" and then say to the next "you're a scammer". The moochers know this and know that if they just play the game, they can make a lifestyle out of taking from others. It's even easier when they're taking it from "the government" because they don't have to look their neighbors in the eye and explain their actions.

So what's the solution? Private charities of course. But that would mean defunding/killing all social programs as well as a commensurate drop in the tax rate to allow people to keep more of their money and donate it as they see fit.

You and I both know that's not going to happen though.

Really? Then I shouldn't have had to pay in my 15% all these years. (Both halves since I was self employed)

I'm still paying for your kids! Do you take the tax deduction? Please.. That's welfare! You're on it. You might him and haw about rather it's the welfare you'll complain about (if you even complain about it) but it is welfare. You get something from my pocket for nothing.

Furthermore I wasn't talking specifically about your situation, How the fuck would I know if you even had kids.

Education and the tax deduction is welfare. Its stealing and sucking off my tit. Before we start cutting the nothing you get from welfare we should stop giving cash to the middle class and rich in forms of tax deductions and free schools.

I loathe the hypocrisy of parents that send their kids to public school and steal money from me to pay for it and then bitch about welfare. Your public school educated kids are on welfare. You're a welfare family!

My kid goes to private school chief. I get to pay for other peoples' kids and my own, but once again you've proven that you know nothing about the things you spout off about.

So now your position is that taking a tax deduction is exactly equivalent to being on welfare? If your critical thinking skills are the result of a public school education, I'm very happy to pay my son's private school tuition.

The first post I made in this thread - the one to which you responded - mentioned my kid. But you weren't directing your post to me. Sure.

Lets see. you pay less taxes so in turn I have to pay more, do you get less benefits than I? NOPE, yeah that's welfare. You're "entitled" to more benefits than I, public school or no. I commend you for not using that entitlement. I didn't memorize that you had kids. I could care less. What I do care about is the hypocrisy that parents routinely show. Tax deductions and schools stealing MY cash. How about zero deductions for everyone and no free schools or at least no free schools for people making over the poverty level. Subsidized schooling would even be a step in the right direction. You pay based on income level.
