SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER SAYS THE NRA IS AN EXTREME ‘FRINGE GROUP’

I am proud to be an extremist...many times over. This is not the only group I belong to which has been labeled as an extreme fringe group.

Quote:Responding to interviewer Alicia Menendez’s question about whether Schumer’s colleagues are “willing to admit” that the NRA is a “fringe group,” the senator responded: “Well they sure are a fringe group, but whether enough of my colleagues are ready to admit that, I’m not sure.”

He continued: “They are a very extreme group. They don’t even represent average gun holders.”

Chuckles has had it in for gun owners for years. Sadly his grip on reality has been slipping for just as long.

Admit nothing.  Deny everything. Demand proof.

Expect more of this NRA as a fringe group. Expect also, Janet napolitano to declare something similar.

To liberals, anyone who cares about the constitution and wants to protect it and limit the expanse of government is an extremist, and they have relabeled the founding fathers as extremists in academia, so were in good company.

Of course they're going to demonize the NRA, its their strategy, nothing new here (see Bush, Romney, etc).

I'm hoping the NRA will get in front of this with their own PR campaign and messaging. If they don't, they'll always be on the defensive.

Funny - if anything it needs to be more extreme - I'm tired of the NRA's play nice approach and would support "in-your-face" methods

What's dangerous about this is how many people believe the media. If something is said loud enough long enough, people will believe it.

Also, one very effective way of winning an argument of public opinion is to marginalize your opposition - even if they are clearly the majority (see above). Basically, the administration is fighting dirty in the court of public opinion, which is why we need to be very vocal about standing firm on 2A issues and incessantly contacting our legislators. Hopefully we will be loud enough long enough that people will realize that gun control is the minority position.
