No story yet, but I'll attach one as soon as one becomes available.

Well, there it is: per an AP News story that Wikipedia linked to a few minutes before the official announcement, Rand Paul has won the 2014 CPAC straw poll. It’s not a huge surprise — since 2010, Mitt Romney is the only winner whose last name hasn’t been Paul (Congressman Ron Paul won in 2010 and 2011). This is Senator Paul’s second win in a row. He won with 31 percent of the vote, with Senator Ted Cruz taking 11 percent.

Not a snowballs chance in hell will the people who run this country/parties allow Rand Paul to win. We'll get Chris Christie for certain and conservatives will get fucked...again... unless they manage to dig up a really serious skeleton from Christie's closet. Look at the shady shit that happened around Ron Paul, the game is rigged, of that I am certain.

Republicans would rather attack each other and bloviate about their "big tent" diversity and tolerance rather than listen to their constituents. Criminals, liars, and people who want power for power's sake run this country. We either need to kill the republican party entirely or press the reset button.

That big tent is split between Paul and Christie, and the old crew is losing steam.

If that did happen it would be Rand Paul's tent with Christie's cardboard box next to it getting waterlogged in the rain... Seriously have you met anyone outside NJ who actually would prefer Christie for a candidate given the choice of any other republican? Still I'm sure they will come up with some scandal to knock Paul out of the running. The party has already decided Christie all the way in 2016.

My girlfriend and her family (who live in NJ) are independents who lean slightly to the right, and even they hate "the fat man". I don't know if her parents are going to vote, but as of right now my girlfriend likes Rand Paul. She hasn't done a full in depth research on the candidates, but from what I had to say about Rand, she likes everything she hears.

You may misunderstand, it's the old crew who want Christie. I think Paul is gaining steam.

No I understand completely, I'm just not deluded into thinking we have a choice as to who gets selected by the party. The people who run the party pick the candidates and then give us a "choice" between pepsi and coke.

The drunkard for one will do or say whatever he's told...

Got your Christie bumper sticker yet? He's never going to go after your "hunting rifle"... Beohner is such a winner I think we should just make him the next presidential candidate instead. Tanning salon coupons for everyone!

I think Rand has a better shot than his father. Fox News (yeah yeah, I know) is also giving Rand Paul more air time than they did his dad.
