What do the Bucks voters think about this one?

Keep Donnelly or, give Lingenfelter a chance?

Lingenfelter lost any chance with me when he tried to prevent Donnelly from using "Duke" as a nickname

My biggest problem with Donnelly is that he's not willing to stand with other sheriffs concerning the 2nd Amendment. I'm trying to find the quote...

Duke was asked about the 2nd Amendment and other Sheriffs standing up to the politicians in Washington. His reply was basically he's going to do whatever the politicians say, even if it's wrong. That if you want change then you need to elect the politicians to help with that change. And he did mention somewhere that the Bucks County Sheriff has no police power. Unlike other counties or states the Sheriff has no arrest powers.

I don't agree with Lingenfelter and his attempt to get Donnelly off the ballot simply for a nickname.

Yup.

This.

If he's willing to play bullshit games like this before he's elected, how's he going to mess us about when his ass is in the boss's chair?

The guy's all about political ambition.

Of course I can't vote against him in the primary, because I'm not a registered Republican.

Thanks for the replies. I agree the nickname fiasco was petty. Not only that, but he was posting in the comments section under one of the phillyburbs articles about this to the point where he appeared really thin skinned. If you have to go to that extent to make your point, you likely have no point.

I am curious as to which way people are voting though.

So you're going to vote for an incumbent party puppet who is wishy washy on 2A stance because you dont like that the other candidate, who is a 2A strong 2A supporter, attends rallies, etc, raised an issue about a nickname?

Most people will probably vote Donnelly because they know the name and the only real press Lingenfelter has been getting is the ballot name challenge. So that makes him look bad.

The CGOBC facebook page has a link supporting Lingenfelter. If a local gun owner's group doesnt back the current sheriff that should be pretty telling.

I know what you saying, And I Agree with you to a degree. BUT! Lingenfelter is a politician, He will attend 2A meetings and rallies before elections. him going and suing about a nickname is just saying something i didn't like about the guy..

I seen Donnelly at a CGOBC meeting and someone asked that question, why don't you follow the other sheriffs in your stance about firearms.

He replied he has no police powers, Pa sheriffs as a whole have no police power.

I basically took that to say, "Why, What would be the point" . It would be feel good stuff if he went along, it would serve no purpose other than feelgood BS. God knows we have enough of that going around. So Yes I'll vote for him in the primary.. but come Nov 5th, Who knows..

on a side note,
I never understood registering independent or libertarian, I want in on the primaries, And I'm registered R for that reason only.

Can someone enlighten me as to why I would want to remove myself from being able to vote the primary. Other than to make a statement

I left the GOP in order to try to advance liberty and liberty minded candidates. I don't see that happening with the GOP machine. It's rotten from the local level all the way up to the federal level. I mean the GOP was suing to keep the Libertarian candidate off the PA ballot this past election.

I think if people look at political races as "who the fuck will leave me alone the most" rather than "who do I want to have control over me" or "who will give more handouts" the elections might have better outcomes regardless of party.
