Shotgun Wads?
#1
I just started loading shotgun shells, got 800x powder, 7.5 pellets.
2.75 shells. Now I got these wads, classified as figure 8's, what is the difference in wads? Figure 8, aa, rdk, I have been reading and I am not sure what to use. I am using 1 1/8 bushing and 134 bushing (Lee Loader)
Any help would be appreciated.

This is a long time with no response. I find myself in a similar situation; I have a loader, hulls, plastic wads, shot and primers but am having a hard time finding the right recipe to put it all together. Who would have thought that shotshell reloading info could be so elusive. I happened upon some oldschool fiber wads and an old Lyman load data book, I'll try to put something together with that. I may be selling a few bags of plastic wads in the not too distant future.

Git it all figured out. Pain in the ass at first. I found if you separate and go by type of shells (hulls) first, it makes it a lot easier. I now load 1 1/8 7.5 shot, for 1250 fps. works good for clays and has enough to cycle my rem 1148. I just bought 1 oz. wads, may try to adjust for them.

I happened into a shitload of plastic wads and a shitload and a half of hulls. They didn't seem to be compatible with each other so I gave away the hulls and sold some of the wads. I still have some assorted hulls and about a half a shitload of plastic wads. When I have time to relax and think a little bit I'll see what I can figure out. In the mean time I have the old school fiber wads to fall back on. I rarely shoot shotgun so it's of no real consequence to me either way.

I can't find an SAE to shitload calculator anywhere.
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

There's approximately 200 shitloads to a shitton.

That's because it's metric.

Sorry, I can't help you with a conversion factor.
Let me say that from my perspective, it looks like a whole bunch.
(Does that help?)

How about this?:

According to Merriam Webster Dictionary (online) it's defined as:

They call that white plastic thingie a wad?

I always called those wads shuttlecocks, cuz they look like one in slowmo when you fire shot.

I was gonna try to weave the word penis into this post, but I think this post has reached its quota of phallic references in it now.

IMO unless you're loading exotic, buckshot or slugs just go buy it...unless you really are that bored.
I have a MEC that only gets used for the above three types.

This will get you a little closer to the answers you seek.
