SHTF camper
#1
I recently purchased a used camper.
I didn't really think about it at the time, but after I got it home I realized that it would do quite well for short term shtf scenarios since it's self contained. Gas heat, stove, hot water heater and refrigerator, DC lighting, radio, water pump, and a small genny will run anything else/charge the system.

Just pull it up to the house and that's one damn good addition to make life easier.

You could pick up some solar panels and either mount them on it or store them inside and use them when needed. Does it have a battery or two to run the electricity as it is?

I wish I could use solar where I live. Up at the house I get almost no sun. Where I park it is about the only sunny part of the property, about 300+ yards.

The water, heat, radio, and lights will run off a marine battery. The outlets need a hookup or an inverter to the battery. There is one cigarette lighter type receptacle that runs off DC that a small inverter could be plugged in to.

I've been dragging my feet getting a transfer switch to the house, so at least until I do that I can take a hot shower in a Sandy type situation.

Since you have propane, I would just get a Honda EU2000 generator and convert it to propane. That will probably be the most efficient power you could get.

Yeah, you could hide in a trailer park, or campsite. Maybe even live in a construction site, like it's the field office. :-)
