"So if Obama is re-elected... he is going to become a dictator"
#1
The thread title is from a conversation I recently had.

A family friend who I knew was going likely to be voting for O this year stopped by our house the other day. She brought up the election and my wife and I spent several hours explaining the importance of the election. Our main points included:
F&F
DREAM Act executive-order-around-congress
Checkpoints within the US where vehicles are searched without warrant
O's attempted intimidation of the SCOTUS

Towards the end of the conversation, our friend mentioned the title: "So, if Obama is re-elected, you are afraid he his going to become a dictator." We never mentioned "dictator" or anything along those lines. We simply mentioned what O has done while having to worry about re-election. We posited the notion that if this is what he does when he has to face the people, what will he do when he doesn't have to worry about being re-elected. She drew this conclusion on her own. Big Grin

For me, it was encouraging seeing the light turn on in her head that O is not going to be her friend if he is re-elected. Big Grin

I was also floored that she was unaware of anything my wife and I were telling her about. It makes me wonder how many people would vote for O if they really knew the truth about him and his administration.

a friend of mine went to Florida because his mom fell and broke her hip . his older sister and brother live there ...both in their mid to upper 60's. his bro and himself are on the same page but he never really talked to his sister about politics but decided while there to do so. she is a dem.

when he told her about many of the things going on , she really had no clue and he told me she was visibly shaken. the brother in law dismissed it all as conspiracy theories

I'm glad your friend was able to get through to some extent his sister.

For a while I used to shake my head at all of those "conspiracy nuts". Then I gained some knowledge and experience. While I am not convinced there is a small organization necessarily pulling the world's marionette strings, I can understand how it can happen... on a world scale or smaller.

I certainly hope your friend's brother doesn't use this as an excuse to vote for O, but from what you said, it sounds like he wont. Smile

And those in fact are the people who should scare us.

These are, in my experience, all of O's supporters.

The liberal "ignorant dismissiveness" is rampant...

A client and I were talking about the election, and since I know he leans slightly left, I kept to questions, rather than state my opinion. When I did mention things about the current administration, he dismissed the argument, saying "at least he's not Romney, shipping jobs to China".

It's completely unthinkable that one man can be held up as a savior, and a man with different ideas labeled a racist, war-mongering capitalist pig?

It's the same old story...if you're a conservative, you viewpoint's not valid...if you're a liberal, your stance cannot be challenged.

I was chatting with an 18yo black female college student the other day. Basically her entire reason for voting for Obama was, "Well im black, so im a democrat."

Whack

I think that people who vote based solely on ethnic - or other superficial - grounds deserve what they get...

The scary thing... she's the country's future! Beeler
