Some neat accessories for the Mosin Nagant.
#1
I was checking up on my YouTube subscriptions and came across a review for some of Brass Stacker's accessories/services for the M91, M38 and M44 Mosin Nagant:

Personally I am against many of the more permanent mods made to old military rifles like the Mosin but I think the scope mount, the ring for the safety and leather satchel/cheek rest for the butt-stock are awesome mods since they can be added/removed from the rifle without doing any permanent damage to the rifle plus they just add so much utility onto the rifle while fixing some of the shortcomings of the rifle. I also have a link to the accessories: http://brassstacker.com/mosin-nagant

Edit: The scope mount is also made for Mauser type rifles too.

I'm with you. No accessories needed for that rifle. It has been my experience that the majority of those scope mounts that replace the rear sight are not worth the money. Most of them are cheap and don't last long on a rifle with such recoil. The only mod I have ever done to a 91/30 is cutting an ink well to size and slipping it over the front sight post to zero it around 50 yards.

I am a little perplexed by your comment GreenBlood, do you feel this non-permanent mount is a waste of money? Based on the video I think this mount might actually be a cool idea since it doesn't require chopping up the rifle to use. Looking at how it connects to the rifle I also feel it has a chance of keeping zero even after hundreds of rounds of 54R. However that's my non-expert opinion.

That's right. My brother-in-law and I shoot our 91/30's quite frequently and he has tried on two separate occasions with two separate mount manufacturers and neither one would hold zero after 25-40 rounds. The scope he used came off of his .308 so we know it wasn't the scope.

You have given me something to think about, I think I will have to hear more non-biased reviews before calling it. It looked stable in the video but the video involved the makers of the product.

I've seen aftermarket non permanent scope mounts fall off of 91/30s. The last one I saw had been mounted by Accuracy Speaks which is the gunsmith on site for the Usery Pass/Rio Salado Gun Club. It hit the concrete after less than 50 rounds. I've seen the muzzle brakes do the same but that only lasted two rounds.

That's a damned shame, these scope mounts do they connect to the rifle the way this one does?

The mount seems perfect. Only $45, well made, can withstand the recoil of 54R, no permanent mods needed to be made and it has a standard rail for most optics. Seems he recommends a pistol type scope for the long eye relief. I think for $45 it is worth a shot.
