Something Different - COLORED USGI Mags
#1
A few weeks ago, while searching for deals on AR15 mags, I ran across these interesting colored mags. Since they were on sale for $8.95 I decided to try a few.
(Heh. NOW they are a dollar LESS! Ack!)

Shipping was reasonable and they arrived in an acceptable time frame. Each mag comes sealed in a bag, and everything was packed well for shipment. So far, so good - this was my first time ordering from this company, and thus far, I'm pleased.

Why colored mags? Why not?
I have a bunch of standard USGI and MAGPUL mags, but thought these may come in handy for ammo identification. Beyond that, I just figured it would be something "different", and was curious to see what they looked like in person. Ten years from now, they could be as common as PMAGS, or an unusual "collectible".

I don't know who they contract with to have them manufactured, but they seem fairly well made, and the color anodizing is excellent. I have not had a chance to try them for function. I will report back when I do.

Note that these are available in red, blue, and orange, but I did not order any of the red at this time.
Here they are.

Typical "black" mag for comparison, followed by the orange, and blue...

I have an assortment of USGIs from OKay, Center Industries, Brownell's, Stoner, and C-Products. These mags most closely match the C-Products mags in rib design/construction.

The seams and welds are clean and consistent.

The metal appears to be just a hair thinner than that of the Center Industries mag. Then again, that mag probably dates back to the eighties, as it has the "restricted to military, law enforcement" stamp on it, so it stands to reason that a newer, and unbranded mag may not be of the same construction.

Here's a closeup of the follower. I forgot to take one apart to show the insides.

Like I said, I'll have to post back after I use them. I just thought someone would enjoy a better/clearer look at them since the pics on the website are not as clear as I would like when making a decision to buy. I took a chance and am pleased with what I received.
Hope you enjoyed the show!

Money saving tip! If you order, try entering "REPEAT" when it asks if you have a coupon code - I received $5.37 off my order! (I googled coupon codes before I ordered)

I think they provide an awesome contrast to the black finish of the rifle. I bet they'll get a few double-takes at the range from passerby's.

I like them, wouldn't buy them, but like them. Being anodized aluminum, you could do the same thing to all the aluminum parts of your rifle, I would suspect.
