SOURCE: CT MURDERER LIVED IN WINDOWLESS BASEMENT PLAYING VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES

Adam Lanza, the shooter who massacred 20 children and six adults last Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School, spent hours in the windowless basement of his home playing violent video games like "Call of Duty" and obsessing over "guns and military equipment."
Peter Wlasuk, a plumber who worked at the Lanza home, told The Sun that Lanza "lived in the basement" and he found it "strange."
"He had a proper set up down there — computers, a bathroom, bed and desk and a TV," Wlasuk said. "There were no windows.”
Wlasuk said he went down to the basement on numerous occasions while doing work at Lanza's home and said Lanza also had a "huge poster with every tank ever made" and another one with "every piece of military equipment the U.S. ever made." He said the Lanza brothers could tell "you about guns they had never seen from the 40s, 50s and 60s."
Lanza was suspected of being mentally ill and may have had Asperger's. His high school assigned him to a counselor because they feared he may harm himself but not others.
According to reports, Lanza's mother was a "a gun enthusiast who owned at least five weapons" and "took her younger son to a local firing range just days before the rampage."

So what. Lets blame individuals, not video games and posters.

Sure playing games like that can be a bit desensitizing but you've gotta be seriously screwed up in the head to do what this dude did. No ammount of posters, video games, and movies will make someone do that shit unless theres already an underlying mental health issue.
and to the dust you shall return

What types of behaviors make normal kids grow-up to become lying, conniving, self-serving politicians?

If we lie to the government, it's a crime. If the government lies to the people, it's called politics.

A 20yo kid that no grasp on reality. Home schooled, never socialized with anyone. Lived at home, no job, probably collecting SS, playing video games all day, and moms solution was to introduce him to real firearms that seem to have been left unsecured, so she could have something in common with him.Confused What could go wrong?

She did have something in common with him. She was crazy too.

Instead of controlling guns maybe we should try controlling who gets to breed.

I say we blame the violent games... then lets blame the media for being a bunch of douchebags. If they wouldn't put these mass murderers up on a pedestal then other idiots wouldn't try to copy.

Life is nothing more than a video game to these narcissistic punks. All they want is the high score with their initials being proudly displayed for all to see and admire. Daring the next nut case to beat them.

The problem is all these new scandalous stage plays! The problem is the god damn new fangled moving pictures! The problem is these damn comic books corrupting our society! It's this damn hip hop and rock music! No no! The problem is these damn video games!

The link between video games. And violence is bullshit almost as much bullshit as...

We need to ban these supressors! No its the high cap mags nobody ever uses in crimes! No it's handguns! It's those damn shoulder things that go up! .50 cals will be shooting down all our airliners by next year!

Hate to break it to you, but a major chunk of the <35 year old male crowd at this point has grown up with violent video games being around most of their life. I'm pretty sure nearly all the people in that demographic have either played themselves or watched someone else play. There is no consistently conclusive link between videogames and violence. For every mentally damaged psychopath there are a million others whom don't go out and carry out violence. Watching Marvin's head explode in Pulp Fiction was more graphic than 99.9% of the games I've played and I've played more than I can count over the past several decades including the CoD games. Honestly one of the most graphic and somewhat realistic and gritty violence in entertainment (discounting the fucked up stuff on the Internet you come across) examples I can think of off the top of my head was seeing the banker get shot in the head hanging off the side of the car in the old Bonnie and Clyde movie. That scene in particular left more of an impression on me than any video game ever has. CoD 2 has depictions of D-Day and Stalingrad which were less violent in my mind than Saving Private Ryan or Enemy at the Gates. Should we censor the reality of war as well from these excellent films that show it for what it is? Why blame the game, where is the parental responsibility? Most game shops card you these days no matter how old you look. This arguement that videogames cause violence is a joke and beyond tired. The only people who put any stock into it are those who are too old to have really been exposed to games and don't understand what they're talking about, almost like the anti-gunners.
