Source for a Crickett 22 receiver? Ultra light rifle project
#1
Im looking for just a receiver but can not find one. I suppose a used one would work but for what I want, paying over a hundred bucks for a new rifle just wont cut it.

Side note, when did the prices jump on these little bastards?

Haha, sure. I want to build an ultra light survival rifle. Iv been looking at some stocks for my AR 7 and can find some thin stocks but nothing thin enough. I ran across this

http://www.packrifle.com/

Kinda cool and weighs less than a pound. But at a 425 MSRP too damn high for a single shot 22lr. To me it should be a ~300. Kept searching and ran across this

Oh hell yeah. Kit is 250 for either stock. tube stock is 15 oz, which is less than the previous rifle. The other stock is 19 oz. I dont want to pay 120 bucks though for a brand new rifle if I can find just a receiver or a cheap used rifle. Theoretically I could piece it together for around 300 bucks or a bit over it. Still a little high but the kit does include the carbon fiber barrel.

Interesting. Based on the price of a youth cricket, I can't do anything for you. Have you looked into a 10/22 takedown? Not sure of the price or availability, but the semiauto platform could be more useful. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with the project. Post pics and a review if it pans out.

A good bit heavier than my goal but I can get it in 22mag... I like!! Thanks man! Looks like those rails are removable too so I can lighten it up. I like it. The easy addition of a suppressor is freaking nice too. A 22lr version might be better just for that. Hmmm

As for the original plan, its still there. I just cant find a cheap enough crickett to justify it. The 10/22 takedown is neat but much much heavier than my goal.
