Quote:BROCKWAY, Pa. – A Pennsylvania state police trooper was shot and critically wounded while trying to serve a warrant Thursday afternoon, investigators said.
It happened along Cemetery Hill Road, just outside of Brockway.
"We were sitting there watching TV when all of a sudden we heard gunfire," said Judi Billock, who lives nearby.
Police said the suspect remained barricaded inside the home at press time.
"We do have the scene contained, and there is no danger to anyone else in the neighborhood," said George Bivens, of the state police.
Investigators said they planned on staying put throughout the night.
Police are not yet releasing the name of the suspect or victim.

I was on the scene of a deadly accident on interstate 80 that had traffic backed up for over 10 miles and thats where we heard about the shooting. About an hour later a task force of about 8 unmarked cars from Harrisburg came through the scene heading west. What I don't get is there was one trooper per car, what is the logic there?

Depending on where Brockway is, it was probably Troopers assigned to State CERT East or State CERT West headed to the barricade. They each have to lug a lot of gear.

That and they're usually all assigned to different stations and don't have time to hitch rides and wait for each other.

Ah, makes sense. Never heard of Brockway but I was told this happened near Dubois.

According to the CDT the trooper was shot twice as he approached the dwelling. They also confirmed they were in a standoff on the scene throughout the night, I haven't been able to find any more updates at this time.

The story in your quote originates from Brockway which is about 11 miles north of Dubois up RT 219

Quote:The trooper was serving a warrant in Brockway. That's about 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

The suspected shooter then holed himself up inside his house.

As of early Friday morning, he's still in a standoff with police.

I think we have a couple members from that area that may be able to chime in about this story. I also heard they put the local schools in lockdown for a little while as well.

Now you know why some PDs use swat teams to serve warrants.
