Student Suspended for not Stomping on Jesus
#1
Quote:A student at Florida Atlantic University has charged that his professor in intercultural communications class told the whole class to write the name JESUS in bold letters on a piece of paper, then drop the papers and stomp all over them.

The alleged incident happened three weeks ago on the Davie, Florida campus of FAU, according to WPEC-TV. (Scroll down for the video.)

Junior Ryan Rotela, a devout Mormon, is the student making the charge.

I read this article somewhere else.

The part I found interesting, is that the lesson plan actually had written out that the students were expected to hesitate...at which point the teacher was to show how important symbolism is.

HOWEVER, it does not sound like the lesson plan was followed. Because most students did NOT hesitate, and the one that refused to do it got in trouble.

I love how you're supposed to be tolerant of every religion except Christianity....

From reading the article it sounds like other students who didn't stomp on the Jesus sign were not suspended from the class. Only this guy because he not only refused the in class assignment he went to administration to complain. I have a feeling that we're only hearing one side of the story and maybe it was decided that this class was not for him due to his religious convictions. He wasn't suspended from school, just from this one class.

Maybe I'm not as intelligent as this teacher, but I hardly think that in an Intercultural Communications class you would want to encourage the class to stomp on or devalue the faith of another.

It's asinine. You don't teach respect or tolerance for anything by encouraging disrespect.

Respect and tolerance is ONLY for their chosen ones. Christianity doesn't appear to be one.....kinda like we're living in the Middle East.....strange days indeed.....
Connect all the dots and it's not going to end well.

Oh please, let's stop being over dramatic.

If this story is true, is what happened offensive and absurd? Yes.

Living in the middle east? Get a grip.

Have you ever been there?

This country is by FAR, Christian, and these little incidents of disrespectful behavior do not change that fact.

The Bible references times like this that will see the mocking, intolerance and violence against the followers of Christ. No surprise.

And yet, we see intolerance towards Christians in THIS country as tolerant behavior. And little incidents, over time, really add up. Stonewall Inn.....

Update: Professor A Democratic Party Official…

Quote: While the incident has made the news, the media has failed to report a key component of Poole’s resume: He is vice-chairman of the Palm Beach County Democratic Party. His recent actions add fire to an already-disturbing pattern of hate coming out of the local party.

Mark Siegel, the former chairman of the county Democratic Party, was forced to resign in September under a barrage of criticism over an anti-Christian tirade at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Siegel, who is Jewish, told an interviewer at the convention that pro-Israel Christians want to see Jews “slaughtered.”

Let's have a lesson where students are expected to stomp on a picture of Obama, see how that goes down.
