WASHINGTON — Your medical plan is facing an unexpected expense, so you probably are, too. It's a new, $63-per-head fee to cushion the cost of covering people with pre-existing conditions under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.

The charge, buried in a recent regulation, works out to tens of millions of dollars for the largest companies, employers say. Most of that is likely to be passed on to workers.

Employee benefits lawyer Chantel Sheaks calls it a "sleeper issue" with significant financial consequences, particularly for large employers. REST AT LINK http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/fina...l.New.Fee/

Reminds of a Beatles song.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile

Meh! Its now going to come out of my left pocket instead of my right pocket. Shrug

The current system is insane. The new system is insane. All we are doing is arguing over which version of crazy we prefer.

With the minor exception that the fed is even more deeply involved than it has ever been and will, no doubt, cost us much, much more.

Anyone who wonders why we keep getting more and more screwed in this country needs to look no further than this post. In three weeks we face a slew of new taxes that will cripple our economy. Employers are already shedding jobs and trying to find ways to ease the tax hit and whatever costs they can't dodge will be passed on to workers and/or consumers. Best of all, the POTUS and his fellow Democrats all lied about the effect their plans would have on the middle class.

For all that, we get "meh". I guess as long as American Idol is on TV, it's all good.

It already costs us much much more. Its just that nobody cares to notice. For example Val here is proud that he cancelled his insurance and will be visiting the emergency room for his 'free' health care.

Again, I'm trying to fake outrage that we are going from crazy insane to insanely crazy, but its hard.

Do tell how may you employ and for how much you write a check for each month for health care. What's wrong with this country is mindless bumper sticker slogans that mask the real issue. As if somehow we scrap O care our method of paying for health care would be any more sane.

Bring up intelligent alternates based on the free market and I'm all ears. Arguing over living in Commie USSR is better than living in Commie China is....well, insane!

The _ONLY_ return to 'sanity' will be when people have to start paying for the stuff out of their own pocket, and therefore start making decisions based on the realities of their own healthy (or not) choices.

Even if they have insurance, people NEED to actually FEEL the money leave their hands before they are reimbursed.

Beyond that, there is ZERO chances of sanity being re-introduced into the system.

The current trend of insulating people from their choices only makes things worse. When (not if) 'single payer' is implemented, the costs will rise even faster, and lines will grow long for even simple checkups.
