SWAT Team Deputy Killed Serving “No Knock” Warrant
#1
On December 19th, a sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed during an attempt to serve a “no knock” warrant near Sommerville, Texas.

Just before 6:00 A.M. an 8 member SWAT team broke through the door of Henry Goedrich Magee to serve a warrant which would permit the team to search the mobile home in which Magee and his pregnant girlfriend were living.

Reacting to the pre-dawn, forced entry Magee grabbed a rifle propped against a bedroom door frame and fired at the unidentified intruders, killing 31 year old sheriff’s deputy Adam Sowders.

No one else was injured and Magee was taken into custody. He is being held on $1 million bail and has been charged with capital murder, punishable in Texas by life in prison without possibility of parole or death by lethal injection.

With a likely side of depressing and frightening.

Perhaps if the SWAT team knocked and identified themselves Mr. Magee would not have thought his home was being invaded by criminals and fired on them. If these Texas deputies are wise and care about their own safety they would knock and announce who they are.

I think the benefits, being the safety and preservation of the deputies' lives, far outweigh the negatives here, like the suspect destroying evidence the second he or she realizes its the cops.

Anyone else surprised that Mr. Magee is still alive?

I am. I won't be surprised when this happens more often though.

That's exactly what I thought as I read the article. I expected to learn he was shot and killed by police. It's shocking he is still alive.

Well if we would just drone these scumbags the police and our communities would be safer. Pending legislation just around the corner.Rolleyes

The no-knock warrant is as criminal as any crime perpetrated by an alleged criminal.

400 innocent people killed by police every year? Not mourning these Gestapo losses.

And the deputy killed was the one that asked for the no-knock warrant... poetic justice?
