Two severely wounded in Swatara Twp. when victim apparently shot robber, police say

Two people are seriously wounded after an injured robbery victim apparently shot his assailant in Swatara Township early Friday.

Township police said they were called to the Capitol Diner on Eisenhower Boulevard where they encountered a wounded man who said he had been robbed at the nearby Rodeway Inn around 1 a.m. The man told police he has a permit to carry a gun, which he used to shoot the robber.

Meanwhile, police said they stopped a vehicle seen leaving the motel and found Mario R. Shockley, 25, hiding in the back seat with a gunshot wound to his chest. Both Shockley and the robbery victim were undergoing surgery at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center early Friday, police said.

Police said they will charge Shockley, along with the driver of the car, Brittany E. Pitts, 23, with offenses including robbery and aggravated assault. Shockley and Pitts have York addresses.

Swatara police are asking anyone with information to call them at 717-564-2550 or submit an anonymous tip to their website at www.swatarapolice.org.

Seems as though there's been more and more Bonnie and Clyde teams running around the past few years.

Another article about this: http://www.wgal.com/news/susquehanna-val...index.html

Apparently the "victim" was meeting up with a prostitute. I wonder how this would play out in regards to self defense since he was also in the commission of a crime at the time.

From that article:
Quote: Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said the gun that the victim used was legally registered.
Huh
