Yes. If you don't clean and lube your pistol regularly, rust can develop. This doesn't mean breaking your pistol down all the time. Just wiping it off with an oily rag should do most of the time. Though making sure you clean out all the skin cells and lint that build up every so often is a bad idea either.

Wiping down would depend on what you are doing. If you are digging a ditch in the back yard, obviously, you will need to wipe down more than if you are sitting watching TV.

In general, sgtsandman offers some good advice though. You should keep on a regular schedule and, assuming you wear it every day, wipe it down at least a couple times per week.

Not ruin, but may cause wear to the finish even with regular oiling.

It seems that some people's sweat is more "corrosive" than others.

For example, if my brother even touches a firearm or knife you better be wiping it down or two days later you have a permanent reminder of what the whorls on his fingerprints look like.

To be honest, I have no holsters (except OWB types) that don't have a sweat guard.
For IWB carry they are more comfortable to me and give that extra protection against corrosion.

I don't wear a lot of belts, and I found the magnetic one that just clips easily on your pants. I actually love it....its small and comfortable and easy to slip off in case of a potty break. But....my gun is exposed to my skin, and I do tend to sweat unfortunately. :-( I had a mini tuck that never stayed in place and felt uncomfortable. I like my smart carry too but more for standing.

I have to admit I'm not too up on current SIG finishes, my 229 is an older model.
I have an old sock that I keep damp with Balistol, every night when I put the LCP or G26 on the dresser I give it a quick once over.
This is even after considering I have a sweat guard.
I've been using Balistol on my carry guns as I've never had any sort of allergic reaction to it.
I use Weaponshield on most everything else.

I'd say make it a practice to give it a wipedown daily and you probably won't have any serious issues.
Maybe once every 7-10 days of carry give it a little better going over.

You could get an all stainless slide and frame firearm. Or just blow the pocket lint out of the back of the slide, rub the rust off every now and then, put a couple drops of oil on the slide rails and rack the slide a few times at least once a week like I do.

My p238 is all metal with a stainless slide, but I guess the black part of the finish may eventually wear. Has Pearl grips. Most of it will be protected by the holster, I assume.

I usually don't get too worked up about sweat, dust, moisture, dirt or rust. My EDC guns are tools and not wall hangers. Sure, they need to be taken care of but only to the extent that they remain functional IMO. I don't plan on re-selling my EDC guns so finish wear isn't something I lose sleep over. Just make sure your tool continues to function and if you have the chance go out back (in my case) or swing into a range and pull your gun directly out of the holster the way it is and run the mag through it. This will tell you what it can withstand and will either give you confidence that it will function when you need it most or tell you that you may need to be doing more. At the very least I like to run the ammo that's been riding around in my guns every month to refresh the ammo being carried.
