Swedish company implanting workers with microchips

Quote:The mini-devices can open doors, unlock the photocopier and share contact details. It's the way of the future, experts say.

Work is really getting under some workers’ skin.

At the Epicenter complex in Stockholm, Sweden, office drones are becoming droids by inserting dog-style microchips to unlock doors, operate photo copiers or share contact info.

It’s the latest example of a trend that is also emerging in the medical profession.

"We call it augmented humanity," said tech trends expert Faith Popcorn, author of “Dictionary of the Future.” “We foresee a future in which everyone will have an implanted chip that will benefit our personal lives as well.”

Designed by the Swedish Biohacking Group, the radio-wave-emitting chip is the size of a grain of rice and similar to transmitters implanted into pets.

Epicenter's 700 tenants can get the implant, done by a professional tattoo artist wielding a thick needle. A Stockholm tattoo parlor has even hosted chip-insertion parties for employees.

Swedish entrepreneur Hannes Sjoblad, who started the “biohacking” industry in his homeland, thinks it's only a matter of time before people use chips to ride public transportation, pay for groceries and track fitness.

Not to get religious, but it still astounds me that the Bible foretold of a time when people would be forced to have a mark in their hand in order to buy and sell. Since microchips weren't even dreamed of back then, a "mark" would have been the best description John could have come up with to describe what he was seeing in the future.

Anyhoo.... Carry on.....

I've heard the price for these things is $666. Wink
I don't suffer from insanity.
I enjoy every minute of it.

Not me, mark of the beast. Mock Ruger all you want, but it is biblical. Why under the skin? They give you a door card, why not add it to the chip. That way I can take it off when I want. Implanted means "I own you". God "owns" me, and I choose to live free - or die. What happens when Microchip 3.0 comes out and you need an upgrade/replacement?

I didn't mock her for religious reasons, I laughed because "when people would be forced to have a mark in their hand in order to buy and sell" isn't what this is.

As much of a tech geek that I am, implanting myself with technology is beyond the realm of possibilities for me..., unless it was like Ender's ear jewel. Wink

But if someone else chooses to, more power to them.

OK, my bad then. You didn't mock her for religious reasons. You just mocked her for her stupidity?

And you never told a girl, "Oh no, you won't get pregnant, I'll just put..." Ruger's comment is not a leap, but rather a warning as to how things can become. Today you get the chip for one purpose, and because it becomes so common place, let's use it for this purpose or that purpose.

The government was never supposed to use Social Security funds for anything else...
