Taurus Customer Service Stinks
#1
A couple of years ago I bought a Taurus TCP in black stainless. After about 1000 rounds of Winchester .380s it stop working. When I pulled the trigger it would not grab the striker. I called Taurus and they agreed to fix it under warranty. This was back in the end of April.

I requested they send me a postage paid shipping container, they said sure just send them $50.00. I refused and made arrangements with the LGS that sold me the gun for them to send it back to Taurus.

They sent it to Taurus for me. After not hearing from either Taurus or my LGS for months I decided to call them today. The customer service rep. told me they were going to replace my firearm, but they had no idea how long it would be for them to get one in to send me.

The CS rep then told me she could offer me the choice of another firearm with a similar MSRP, which was $295.45 she told me. I looked on the Taurus web site and the MSRP on the stainless TCP was $354.95. After looking at the offerings from Taurus the only one I was mildly interested in was a .40 S&W SA/DA pistol priced at $301.95. I called back and informed her that I would like the 40 and offered to pay the difference. Her response was that was not possible. It turns out the only two options she could offer were for me to accept a blued TCP with a MSRP of $254.95 or wait for possibly forever for the stainless version to come in. At this point I was so tired of the whole thing I told her to just send the blue TCP so I could just get the whole thing over with. So I wound up getting a firearm that has a MSRP $100.00 less then the one I bought.

Taurus Customer Service stinks.

Ouch.

Only experience I've ever had with Taurus is with a 709 slim 9mm. It was supposed to be Mrs_Gixxer's first carry piece. Well, no matter what I could do it would NOT extract emptys. Tried different ammo, different mags, nothing helped. We wound up taking it back to the gun shop and trading it in towards something else and never looked back.

Funny, the only negative I've ever had with this gun shop was due to this Taurus as well. They tried telling me they test fired it and didn't have any problems ejecting empty cases. They went on to suggest that I must've been "limp wristing" it LOL! Whatever, not my baby anymore.

We don't buy Taurus in this household.

The worse part is I really liked the TCP until it stopped working. I will also never again buy a Taurus product.

With so many choices on the market it's just so much easier to pick someone else's products. I'm sure there are Taurus' that work great and maybe customer service that was better too though.

Did Taurus go through any changes recently? The Remington-Marlin acquisition comes to mind.

I liked the TCP I fired better than my LCP. Can't explain why. Looks identical, but just felt better to me.

But thanks, you just erased any "buyers remorse" I had regarding the LCP vs. the TCP.

I bought a Kahr CW .380 to replace the TCP. The TCP had the best trigger of the really small light .380s I tried. I tried the Ruger and Bodyguard.

Update: Called Taurus today because status had not changed on the website. Spoke with a CS rep and asked about my firearm replacement. He told me it is in the works and should ship in 4 to 6 weeks. The total time for Taurus to replace my TCP with a gun that is worth $100 less than the one I bought will be more than 5 months. Asked to speak with a supervisor and was informed a supervisor would call me back in 24 to 48 hours. Which will really mean because of the weekend it will be 24 to 72 hours if I even get a call back. At this point, I'd be telling my story in writing to:

Mr. Anthony Acitelli, President & CEO
Taurus Holdings, Inc.
16175 NW 49 Avenue.
Miami Lakes, FL 33014

And sending a copy by Fax to Fax: (305) 624-1126

AND posting the text to their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TaurusUSA

The latter can be particularly effective.

Acitelli will of course never see your letter, but all CEOs have "people" to make sure that vocal customers get taken care of properly after their service organizations drop the ball.
