Interesting logic.

Quote:Greg Collett happily calls his political views "extreme." But he wasn't prepared for condemnation from his allies after word that all his home-schooled children are on Medicaid became an Internet sensation.

Collett, twice a candidate for the Idaho Legislature in Canyon County, isn't surprised he's been excoriated on left-wing websites including Gawker, BuzzFlash, Daily Kos and Americans Against the Tea Party.

But he's also heard criticism from those who share his anti-government views for having taxpayers foot medical bills for eight adopted and two biological children, ages 4 to 17.

In contrast, Collett and his wife, Kelly, say they will pay the fine rather than buy insurance for themselves under the Affordable Care Act.

I'm not seeing the connection?

When did the abolition of welfare became a part of the Tea Party platform?

LOL How did you head not explode while typing that? Shrug

As for enrolling the kids in Medicaid — the federal-state low-income health insurance program that many of his friends call welfare — he said, "I'm OK taking whatever I can from the government that's available to me. I'm not going to lie and scam the system, but I'm OK with redirecting that money away from morally reprehensible things and direct it towards me."

As usual, the liberals have no problem lying and cheating and destroying America, but they will point out every little indiscretion by a conservative.

I can't fathom how expensive it would be to have personal health insurance for a family of ten children. And on top of that, there's copays and deductibles. While so many others get completely free health care. Anyway, everyone knows that hospitals get paid by overcharging regular insurance to compensate for those getting free and reduced rate care. Which is why insurance is so expensive...because hospitals are charging $20 for a Tylenol to pay for all the free Tylenol they had to give out.

I'm not going to say it's a good thing that he is on Medicaid....on the other hand, I don't know his personal situation and am not in his shoes. I do know that it's a shamful hypocrisy that any conservative who does one thing "wrong" then has their entire belief system discounted, while liberals pretty much get free reign on anything their hearts desire.

The way I see it is this: if we could have a smaller, more effective, less intrusive, and less wasteful, we could afford all of these assistance programs. And cut out our subsidies to countries that are calling for, training for, or actively seeking to disrupt or destroy our way of life.

But we spend bajillions of dollars on waste, fraud, abuse, and bloat.

Would it be better if he had left those 8 kids to rot in the system (cause we know how well that system is run) and bouncing around from foster home to foster home?

Lib hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Wonder what the reaction would be if it was a gay couple that adopted that many and utilized Medicaid to help make ends meet?

And the possibility that all the kids DO have special needs... maybe his two children had some medical/emotional problems and he wanted to provide a home for other children with the same type of problems. Dont criticize someone for trying to help kids that were abandoned, abused and removed from those type of situations or have sever medical/emotional problems. I applaud anyone that would do this.. and no where did it say he was getting any other type of payment to provide for these kids....

the same reaction from me, they were already in the system getting benefits, nobody had to rescue them from rotting away in the system. if people would actually think before they fucked, there wouldnt be so many kids in the system. birth control is available, use it

Hypocritical teabagger is hypocritical.

What I find curious is the number of people coming to his defense. Imagine for one moment this guy was a Democratic, liberal progressive from Chicago or NYC, doing the same thing. Most of us would either say, "I'm not surprised at all," and roll your eyes at the politician sucking the big gov't titty, or be outraged, and call for his head. Being a "Tea Party" guy makes it okay? Niggaz, pleez.
